Fi Series 3 Smart Dog Collar – GPS Dog Tracker and Activity & Fitness Monitor

Waterproof, LED-lighted collar with GPS tracking and health monitoring for dogs.  Choose the collar size and color when ordering from Amazon.

$189.00

Description

The Fi Series 3 Smart Dog Collar- GPS Dog Tracker and Activity & Fitness Monitor has some advantages and disadvantages over the Tractive Collar.  The Fi comes with a collar, only available in blue, pink, grey, and yellow.  My dogs have cute collars and I can attach the Tractive to them.  You have to buy special Fi collars to use the device.

The Fi is a bit more expensive, but it includes the first-year subscription.  You have to buy the Tractive and the subscription separately.  The costs for the subscriptions are about the same.

I love having a GPS tracker for my dog and I don’t think you’d go wrong with either the Fi or the Tractive devices.

The best thing I’ve bought for my dog

The media could not be loaded.

My dog is able to roam freely on our 200+ acre property so being able to track where he is really gives me peace of mind. I love that I can see how many steps he’s done, his energy output, and his sleep patterns, so I know whether he needs a little more rest that day. I recommend fi to every dog owner I know!

    Nothing like what they say

I bought this directly from the site and it took me less than 24 hours to decide to return it. My dog was two houses down and I still didn’t get an alert that he was outside the safe zone. The step tracker was tracking me and my phone while the collar was charging and showing that as the dog’s steps. My experience is similar to another reviewer that had issues and found the product to not work as the company claims it does. The dog has to be over 300 feet from the base and wifi for about five minutes or more before it might switch to gps. I found the app to be a frustrating experience to navigate as well as go through the start up. The company advertised risk free, free shipping, returns … but the hoops to jump through to maybe get a refund are exhausting and includes them requiring the customer to pay for return shipping. Nothing about this company or their product is as advertised.

Can’t pair with phone. Replaced old Fi collar with series 3. Can’t activate. Can’t pair. Can’t reach customer service. Stick with tractive or anyone else

    Doesn’t work

This product is literally useless. GPS doesn’t work. Doesn’t update the location of your dog. When my dog is lost it’s takes 30+ mins to updates my dogs location. Waste of money do not buy.

Had our fi for a week so far and we are loving it! The best dog tracker we’ve used by far. GPS has been really accurate and LED light is really cool. Kinda reminds me of an apple watch for your dog

    Way better than AirTag

The Fi device is very reliable and light weight. Much better than the apple AirTag I was using previously. I can track my dog’s steps and activity throughout the day from my phone and see what she’s up to. I track my own activity against my friends, so it’s nice to see how she stacks up to other dogs. I feel confident knowing where my pup is when I am not with her. I was also able to find a Fi creator partner who made a biothane collar that fits perfectly with our existing leashes and was even better than his original collar!

    Such a cool gadget.

Really impressed so far. Great unboxing experience. Set up took 5 minutes. They asked if Bella was a ‘good girl’ or ‘good boy’ lol. Just started playing around with it but so many cool features already. The light is much brighter than I expected (which is great for nighttime) and you can change between 6 or 7 colors. Setting up the ‘safe zone’ around our home was fun. It’s a little yellow circle that alerts you when they go past it. Tested this on a couple of walks and the notifications came through super quickly. Love seeing what our walks look like at the end of them too. Think my wife is getting annoyed at how much I’m sharing them with our friends lol.We have a Goldendoodle so it’s really cool to see how much exercise she should be getting compared to other Goldendoodles of the same age and breed. So far we’re absolutely loving it! Already can’t imagine going back to a regular dog collar after this.

Great collar, but why is there no product support

I’m happy with the collar, but simply can’t understand why there was no manual along with it?And there was no mention of a setup code, which you must have to complete setup prior to using it.Very odd.

Good if you have a runner.

I have a Shiba who like to run at any given opportunity. The tracking ability on the collar was the greater feature for me as it allowed me to quickly locate where he had run to. The only issue I had was that the collar would loosen and come off often. Nonetheless, it was helpful in locating him quickly and offered reliable tracking.

    100% unreliable

We really need a gps for our dog, because she is outdoors adventuring with us a lot. We really had high hopes for fi collar. Unfortunately we would NEVER recommend this based on our experience. 1. They claim more than 1 wifi network can be associated with the base/collar. This was critical because our pup has 2 primary home bases. This was not a true feature of this pricey collar. It cannot remember 2 different home location safe zones with 2 different wifi networks. 2. We brushed off the 1st few notices that our pup (who was sitting right next to us at a safe zone) was several miles away “without an owner”. We figured there could be blips sometimes during travel, so probably it would be okay. Hmm. Then the final straw. Fi reports that our dog travelled 80 miles by car with us, but is now live 90 miles away from us when she traveled with us and is sitting here in front of us with a fully charged collar. Restarting doesn’t work. Ensuring the base reconnected to home wifi doesn’t work. Swiping to refresh gps location doesn’t work. Can you imagine if we actually lost her and were trying to find her?! Maybe she’s 100 miles away, or maybe not? Please don’t support this corporation and don’t risk your dogs life with this product. Zero rating for accuracy. Zero rating for user interface. Zero rating for warranty… Our expired this weekend and we should have given up much sooner

    Not Working For Me.

I really wanted this to work. I bought this because my husky kept escaping from our 6 acre property. While it did help me to find where she was getting out, it didn’t help when I just wanted to see where she was when still on the property. It would say she was in the house when she wasn’t or that she was out back when she was out front. Very frustrating. At least I was able to locate her escape spot and fix it.

We tested the best dog trackers against one another

My husband and I rescued our dog Charlie 4 months ago. He’d been badly treated as a puppy and so sadly was still very anxious and skittish. We have been training him and he’s got better but at the start any sudden sounds or noises would trigger him, and he would immediately try to bolt.We live in the suburbs, but have a good sized property. Our yard is fenced all the way round, and all the dogs we’ve ever had have always loved it as they can roam off leash. That is except for Charlie…..who just tries to escape.A couple of close calls later, we realized that no doors could be left open, and someone would always need to keep an eye on him when he’s outside. I was still so worried that I looked into what we could use to track him so that I could have more peace of mind.We wanted to make sure that we got this decision right. So, we tested 3 of the best ones against each other: Tractive, Whistle, and Fi. I don’t typically leave reviews, but my husband said we should as it may help save another dog one day!We tested them over the course of 2 weeks, and focused on the following areas:1. Location Tracking Accuracy2. Escape Alerts (when your dog gets out)3. Devices (size, weight, and comfort)4. App (ease of use and other features)1. Location Tracking AccuracyWe really wanted a tracker that we could trust, so this was very important to us. We had to make sure that if Charlie was to get out unexpectedly, we would know exactly where he was to go get him. To test this, we did several walks with each of them where me or my husband would take Charlie on a walk away from the property and I would watch it on my phone to see where they were going. Some of these walks were around our neighborhood, and some were on hiking trails that were a bit more rural.Overall, there was some variation in the tracking, with the biggest difference being that the Fi and the Tractive are the only two that offer live location tracking, Whistle does not. Another thing we did learn about all of them though is that they will only be able to work in real time with cell service. We talked to support about this and it turns out that’s how they send the GPS location back to your phone. We thought this was important, and so focused on testing hikes that had spotty coverage to see which tracker would respond best. Fi was the only one that would give updates throughout the walk, even if they were intermittent. It seems that it repeatedly tries to ping the location back to your phone, whereas the others were only able to send some reports later on once we were fully in a cell service area.2. Escape AlertsThis was a quick one. I had my husband leave with Charlie and without his phone and I timed how long before I got a notification that he had left. We were trying to recreate a potential ‘escape situation’. This was the order we got our notifications:1. Fi – 1 minute 29 seconds2. Tractive – 3 minutes 47 seconds3. Whistle – 4 minutes 13 seconds3. DevicesThis is getting very long as I type it so I’m attaching some pictures of them alongside each other instead! The Tractive is the only one that attaches to your own collar and you don’t need to swap your collar out for, but the Fi is by far the smallest and lightest of the group. Whistle’s surprised us as we didn’t expect it to go so far back into the dog’s neck.4. AppWe actually hadn’t thought about including this section when we first started testing, but after using them all for a few weeks we wanted to include it as they each have some cool features. All these companies did a good job with set up. They all took under 10 minutes to get up and running and were straightforward processes. Running through each of them in more detail below:Fi – tracks their location, activity, health and sleep. This is the only one to track sleep which was really cool to see. It’s also the only one with a built in LED light which was a great add for our nightime walks. It also had the longest battery life of all of them and was the only one that we didn’t need to charge over the 2 week period.Tractive – tracks their location and activity. Mainly focused on location but has a couple of neat activity features. Battery didn’t last very long.Whistle – tracks their location, activity and health. Definitely the most focused on health, and tracks things like scratching and licking. Didn’t find these that accurate though.Hope this helps some other dog moms. After the testing we decided to keep our Fi and return the others and are still very happy with our decision.

    I love the tracking abilities

I love the technology and being able to see how many steps my dog gets a day. I bought the grey one for my german shepard I know he gets a lot of exercise but I never realized he got so much some days. One day he had hopped over 45,000 steps that was one of our busier days but gets around 23,00 – 25,000 steps a day, acording to the fi app he should be getting 15,000 a day. the only thing I don’t love is the mesh collar so i’m looking into getting a new one. just like normal collars they get dirty and the keep smell. but other then that witch is an easy fix I love these and I will continue to use these for my dog.

    Updated from 2 star

ps over 40 timesOriginally wrote 2 star review bc I couldn’t get the base to pair with phone after switching phones. Problem turned out to be I was trying to log in with wrong email address. If you enter the wrong email address and the correct password, the app doesn’t tell you the address is wrong, it just puts up a “Refresh” button so you do t j own your using the wrong email. Support chat revealed that problem. There are some nice features but the system isn’t very accurate for dog location. In standard mode (not lost dog mode) the refresh period on location is very long so your dog could be a good distance from. You and appear close. Probably would work for a lot of people but not the best if you live in a rural area and have a fast active dog. Will probably switch to a sport/hunting dog tracker which is a lot more expensive but a lot more accurate. For many people though this collar will work fine.

Doesn’t work as well as advertized

I had the FI for a couple of weeks and read all the reviews I could find. I thought this would be a good product. I have been having trouble with my FI collar. I called customer service and got some answers that I thought I would share.1. The when the base is connected to wifi and the collar is within range/connect to base/wifi the dog will show as being home. The location will not change.2. If you dog goes out of safe zone FI will not let you know the dog has left the area if it still has wifi signal. If your dog goes out of safe zone to get a notification the dog has to out of wifi and your phones blue tooth range.3. When walking your dog the dogs and the collar is using blue tooth the location will show the location of your phone not the dog.4. If the collar is out of wifi and blue tooth than it will use GPS but it will only ping once every 5 minutes unless you have it in lost dog mode which is every 10-15s.5. if you have it lost dog mode and its hooked to blue tooth it will show only the location of the phone and not the dog.6. GPS is not within 6 feet but 50-100. My experience is more like 200 -300 feet.I love the app. It is easy to use and has some good into on it. You can see your past walks.

    The BEST GPS collar!

I’ve had every version of the Fi collar, and it just keeps getting better! The Series 3 battery lasts for a long time, it’s super easy to set up and use, tracking is accurate (even from far away), it has a sleek design in vibrant colors and I love how it provides information on her rest/strain levels. It gives me such peace of mind, especially when we are out of town and she is at boarding. I love to see where she is and how much activity she is getting even when I’m across the country. So fun to keep up with friend’s pups too! Lola will continue to wear this every day!

More than just a GPS collar

I just got this dog tracking collar, and it’s pretty cool! The GPS collar lets me always know where my dog is, which is super helpful because my dog loves an open door. The LED light is great for nighttime walks or when we do evening dog park adventures. Plus, the safe zone feature is like having an invisible fence without the shock. Not into shocking my dog. All I need to do is go out and grab him if he runs out. I didnt think I cared about the step tracking feature but now I keep checking it because I am obsessed. Battery life seems to be great. Haven’t charged it yet and it’s been over a week – still at 96%

The collar, battery, and gps accuracy are awesome!!

We purchased the Fi collar for our new 6 month old pointer puppy after a friend recommended it for us. We are obsessed! Not only do we love our stylish new Fi collar but when we needed some support, we reached out to their tech team and they were super helpful and addressed all of our needs. We were contacted immediately and they responded to all of our questions right away! Bonus: App is user friendly and great for activity/fitness tracking. Can’t imagine our lives with out it. Lifesaver!

Love love love this collar! We have a fur baby that is super anxious and tries to escape the yard all the time. After doing some research we decided on this collar since it not only pings to Bluetooth but also to cell towers and satellites. We live in a rural area so this was extra important to us. Sure enough, within a few days of having our pup wear this collar I got a notification that she had left the safe zone (another super cool customizable thing you can add on the app). We were able to click a button that our dog was lost which gave us updates on her location every 15ish seconds. We located her within 5 min just a few houses down!another thing I really like about this collar is that the battery life seems to last a long time. Since we have had it (almost a month now) the battery is still over 80% with no additional charges. The collar and little tracker are very light weight and not bulky at all.I will definitely be getting Fi collars for my friends/family for future gifts!

    Really cool!

We love our Fi! Honestly, I only bought it for the GPS tracking and didn’t realize everything else it offered, so we’ve been pleasantly surprised so far. Who knew Carson slept for 18 hours a day!!!The location tracking is great. It’s live, so when my wife takes him for a walk, I can see his icon moving around the block. And the alerts for when they’ve left come to my phone really quickly. That gives me a lot of peace of mind that if he were to ever get out, then I would know right away.Lastly, my favorite feature I didn’t know about is definitely the rankings. It’s really brought out my competitive side…which I didn’t even know I had! Caron’s coming for the number 1 spot y’all!!

Cannot upgrade and no response from support

Received the collar yesterday and cannot upgrade from the Fi 2. There are instructions that say there is supposed to be a blue upgrade banner in the app which is not there, presumably because I didn’t buy the collar directly from their website. I figured buying from Fi on Amazon would be the same as buying direct. Would be nice if the description of the item disclosed this problem up front. Stuck waiting to hear from someone at Fi.

The only dog collar that’s ever saved my life…

This is a story about my dog, Hank, and his Fi collar. I took in Hank after the Sioux Falls Humane Society sent out a euthanasia report and I thought to myself… no dog should have to go through that. Hank was the youngest puppy on the report by a few years and we I took him home he was only about 10-12 pounds. We became fast friends and we got into the habit of spending the weekend together at my mom’s place in Cedar Rapids, a 6 hour Greyhound ride away. For the first few months I was able to sneak Hank on board the Greyhound – I knew he wasn’t allowed but was I going to leave him home alone on weekends? After all that he’s been through? The bus drivers were only ever Nancy or Karl, Karl or Nancy, and they pretended not to notice that Hank was on the bus with me.And that’s when I saw her for the first time – Rosaline. She’d probably been riding the bus with me for the past few weekends but then again she’s not the kind of girl who’d stand out right away. Probably not what most people would consider conventionally attractive, Rosaline had other ways of getting noticed. I smelled her before I saw her because she was toting around a paper grocery bag of seashells, which I assumed must have come from a seafood restaurant because how else are you going to find seashells in South Dakota?? She was always reading something, and today she burrowed her face so deep into “30 Days to Understanding the Bhagavad Gita” that you could really only see her forehead bobbing up and down with the variation in the pavement. She got off at the stop near Waterloo, a few before mine. The next time I saw her, she was sitting in the exact same seat as the weekend earlier. She used two hands to hold up a copy of “Where to Park Your Broomstick”, so she resourcefully tied her belongings around her calf that poked out of her floor length skirt with a man’s belt. Again, she was traveling with some paper totes, containing what looked like several plastic bags of dried mushrooms, each bag had a stacked column of mushrooms tied together with twine, but it was impossible to really know because the labels were printed in a language I could not read or even identify. Between the book and the mushrooms, it was also tough to guess her age.I took my chances and sat down across the aisle from her, hoping that I’d catch her eye. She craned her neck and scanned me up and down as I got settled in my seat. I proferred a polite smile and tried to cast a welcoming gaze. With a sigh I placed my belongings (and secretly, Hank) on the empty seat next to me and said “Another long trip, eh?”. Without breaking eye contact, she shot back, “I don’t think you can handle this much woman, but I’m willing to let you find that out for yourself. I’m Rosaline.” I pretended not to hear her, smiled, and I made a big show of putting in my noise canceling headphones. I replayed her comment in my head until I convinced myself that I couldn’t have possibly misheard her. Every few minutes for the next 4 1/2 hours she would make an abrupt movement that caused me to look at her and, noticing me noticing her, she’d blow me a kiss or put one of her tattooed fingers in her mouth while looking me in the eye.I moved myself to the window seat tried to close my eyes and pretend to sleep. I imagined she was gazing at me up until the very moment she got off the bus near Waterloo IA, when I heard the rustling of bags being gathered, and I felt a single fingernail scrape my forearm in a way that I’m guessing was designed to be suggestive. We never rode that bus again, Hank and I. When I visit my mom in Cedar Rapids, I borrow a friends car and I leave Hank with my housemate Maria. I am thankful that Hank’s Fi collar proactively alerts me when he’s outside of his pre-set home radius.

Mostly Great, but NOT APPROPRIATE FOR TWO LEGGED PETS

I took a chance on this device, even though I wasn’t confident that it would fit my Zyggie’s needs. It seems to be calibrated for four legged ambulation ONLY and there is no option to switch to bidepal. I’m not going to ask for a refund because nowhere did it state that it would work on wallabies (permitted), but I also can’t say that it gets the job done either. I could really use the radius tracking for Zyggie because he can be very independent minded. Please call me if there’s a way to work together on this.I have another Fi collar for my gorgeous white lab, Millie. When I take her for a walk without my phone, it seems like the tracking is a little less accurate for her route/distance. The notifications a hit – I know when my idiot ex-husband has taken her for his weekend hikes without calling ahead of time, and I’m obsessed with the long battery life (much more efficient than my Apple Watch). Really looking forward to Series 4.

    Finding my dog!

I absolutely love this collar. It alerts on your phone when your dog leaves the allowed space. It helps me to find my Gracie even if she hasn’t left the property. The “lost dog” light on the collar comes on by itself when dog leaves the area. That’s a great feature. Highly recommend collar..

    Phenomenal GPS collar

You couldn’t ask for a better collar! I wasted a lot of money trying to see if I could find one that would last but at the same time track from far away. I left the color on my farm animal to know his whereabouts and make sure he did not escape the property and it is saying everything he’s doing and pinpointing right where he is telling me he has not left the boundary. Tomorrow I will be able to see for sure. It tracks him 65 miles away! While I did not purchase the color from Amazon, I got it from the actual site and it cost me $18, I didn’t see a way to review there. HIGHLY recommend. I don’t use social features and the battery lasts about a week.

    Helps me understand my pup

The Fi collar helps me understand how much activity my pup Ash is getting. Our Great Dane had surgery to correct OCD and she gets a limp when she’s had too much or too little activity. This collar helps keep track of how she’s doing and gives me peace of mind that I’m taking the best care of her I can.I’d highly recommend this collar to anyone looking to get better insights into how their pup is doing outside of the regular vet visits.

Saved my dog a few times!!!

I’ve got a german shepherd and Fi is the smartest buy I did this year. I can track him everywhere and it will alert me if he gets out of the backyard and roams a bit too far away. Sometimes it take a minute or two for the GPS to kick in but it really depends of the area and then it tracks him every few seconds. The light is also great to help me find him at night. The steps and activity / sleep counter is also a nice touch.
