Description

There are precious few supplements that I recommend to clients for their pets.  Most supplements don’t have any research or testing behind them and many don’t even have the ingredients listed on the label!  MYOS Canine Muscle Formula is different.  It has multiple studies showing that it helps prevent muscle loss in dogs recovering from surgery or injury, helps dogs with osteoarthritis maintain or even build muscle mass, and can give canine athletes an extra boost.  A list of the clinical trials is here

Definately works to regain muscle loss due to age/injuries. Noticed difference at 2 months.

I honestly didn’t think this product would work and wondered how could fertilized age make a difference. The first month I saw little change but decided to give it another month before making a determination of the efficacy. At 1.75 months I thought I noticed a change in my dog’s (Diesel) muscles. She has gotten bony in the hind end and along her lower spine. She has been having shakes or tremors in the back legs which had slowly gotten worse over several years. It effected how she ran, stood, etc. People always thought the shakes were from fear which was not the case. I thought she might have some spinal issue so took her to a Chiropractor that works on dogs. The Dr. adjusted her in a number of places along the spine and her tremors lessened a little. I started the supplement right after Diesel’s first visit to the Chiropractor. At her second month visit the Dr noticed, as I had, that she appeared to have regained muscle in her back legs and along her spine. I told the Dr that I too thought I had noticed a change and she was regaining her strong, “beast-like” former strength but was afraid of just being hopeful. The Dr said that I was not imagining a change and that she too noticed a difference in Diesel’s back leg muscle and muscles along the spine. Diesel just was not as bony as before. I gave the supplement at about 75% of what was recommended (3 scoops v. 4 scoops) due to it’s expense. Even at this slightly lower dosage Diesel still gained enough muscle for both me and the Dr to notice a substantial difference. Now at three months of use Diesel has gained several pounds, the majority of which is muscle and not fat. Some other supplements have so much fat in them that the dogs will gain fat v. muscle. That is not the case with this supplement. Diesel lumbers when running when she gains a few pounds of fat so I know muscle was added as her performance has improved even thought the scale shows a 3 lb gain. I attempt to kept her weight at 62 or 63 lbs. Lean dogs live longer and healthier lives. One does need to adjust the food proportions the account for the added calories of the supplement so as to assure any weight gain is muscle and not added fat.But I am so please with the muscle gain in my nearly 10 yo dog that I am starting my 8 year old on it too. The younger dog, Quinn, doesn’t yet show any muscle loss but I decided to start her on this supplement as a preventative (at a lower dosage) since nearly all older dogs loose muscle mass especially in the hind end . This causes difficulties in walking, running and rising up off the ground. Then they become weaker and weaker.Yes, it is damn expensive stuff but it is the ONLY supplement I have tried, and I have tried a number of the common brand, that has actually done what it says it will do. I have not studied or asked the company if this is a life-time supplement or not. Afraid if I stop now that Diesel has regained muscle mass she previously lost that were I to stop she might loose it again.I would highly recommend this supplement and just ordered my 4th month container. Be patient and give it at least two months before deciding whether it is worth it or not to continue. IMO it works. I wish I had taken some comparative photos. The attached photo is at the start of supplementation. If one looks closely one can see her leg muscles are not a pronounced as they should be. However, the best way to tell is to just feel the muscles when you start and at the end of each month of supplementation.

    Whoah this stuff works!

My pittie has been on this for 2 weeks and I’m already noticing a difference in his energy. He’s getting up more often, moving around and jumping. His hind legs are even looking a little bit more muscular. Highly recommend. The only negative feedback I have is the price. Its very expensive but what can I do? I will do anything to keep my boy healthy as he ages!

    HELPED MY DOG

my elderly dachshund had been experiencing weight loss and loss of muscle so I decided to try this product. It has definitely helped put a little weight back on and he seems to be more energetic, as well. I have re-ordered and am continuing to use it. Based on information from other reviewers about spoilage, I have chosen to refrigerate this as soon as I open it. So far, it seems to be keeping it fresh.

    Works!

I’ve just started my 11 year old Agility Grand Champion on myos. After a month, she is laying down faster times than ever. I believe Myos is playing an important part. I give 1/2 the recommended dose, and still see results. I’m so convinced of the value of Myos, I’ve just started my 12 year old Kelpie on it.

    Senior dog needed it helped

My 14 year old shiba couldn’t stand up anymore would slip on the tiles and stay there crying. After a week of this product I already saw improvement. He is old and won’t ever have his full mobility again. However this product helped him stay on his feet and go back to running again. Thank you! I will be buying again.

Jury’s still out on this product… 3.5-4 Stars at this point…

** Jan. Update Cont. ** Raised to 4 stars for the incredible customer service we’ve received from MYOS. With their support, we are continuing the Fortetropin & hoping for quality of life improvement. We are not in the market for creating an immortal dog. Unfortunately, they just do not stay with us long enough. Our primary goal is comfort through the aging process, and mobility. We do not have a definitive diagnosis on what’s causing the muscle loss in his legs (primarily back legs, and front legs but to a lesser degree). My gut tells me that this product provides significant support to dogs convalescing from surgery or illness – and I would encourage you to give this product a try! For chronic illness/disease – I think the most rational goal to aim for is comfort and slowing down decline. This is what we’re hoping for, and I’ll continue to update. Our thanks to MYOS for helping us continue w/this product & their great customer service.Tip: I’ve found it mixes best with canned food that has NO gravy or liquid. It has a course parmesan-cheese consistancy/texture, and mixes better with a “pate” style dog food. It has no flavor or aroma – and our dog has no sense that it’s in his food (or else he’d turn his nose up at it). If your dog is on kibble – add warm water to the food to soften (plus dogs just like it, and hydration is so important) – then sprinkle on top. I’ve also taken a high flavor canned food (for fun, not part of his regular diet), combined a spoonful with the fortetropin, and created meatballs (when he was on a prescription food that was somewhat soupy).*January Update* – we were unsure of whether or not to keep going, but will continue with Fortetropin – and stay hopeful that we can see more significant improvement. I want to report that one important thing to note is that our dog has not declined since being on this product. Improvement, so far, as been slight. As we continue with Fortetropin, I plan to get our veterinarian involved to help document any changes at this point, and will share the results here. I see so many people reviewing this product with the same hope that we have – and I think sharing our results is so important. I continue to recommend that people at least try this product – as it could just be that certain conditions will respond better than others. Stay hopeful! :)Just completed our first container of this product. My 12 yr old collie has had declining muscle control in his back legs for the past few years that has come to a point where support (nutritional, medication, supplement, etc) is required. He has not been diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy at this point, and we suspect it has more to do with a spinal condition. That said, the atrophy is significant, especially surprising in his front legs (given they’re providing much of the support for his body at this time). Pros: It didn’t cause stomach upset, it was easy to administer/mix into food, and there could be a slight amount of increase in muscle mass, but it is VERY slight. Cons: Extremely expensive. I don’t think it was a waste of time or money to try this – and I would encourage people to give it a go (it can’t hurt). In our case, however, the improvement was not so notable that I am clamoring to buy the 2nd container. Still contemplating it at this stage. I will continue to update. I would rate it 3 1/2 stars at this point, but will change this rating if we see more noticeable improvement.

    Sheppard Mix with DM

My 13 yr old Shepard mix started showing signs of Degenerative myopathy and it was progressing quickly. DM has no cure so all you can do is manage the dogs weight, take more frequent but shorter walks to keep them active. I have been trying other products with some results but wanted to do more to give her a quality of life. I found Myos and added it to her Nzymes regimen and the results have been exceptional. She had trouble getting up from the floor and our walks become very slow and labored. She wasn’t eating and she started having trouble with skin infections, we really felt like she would be crossing the rainbow bridge soon. With that in mind, I tossed a hail-mary to Myos.It took about a month to notice the changes because we started the Myos so late in her illness but we have never looked back. Her appetite improved, skin issues are now manageable and she can get up from the floor and enjoys her walks again. She is 13 so I am not looking for her to act like a puppy, all we wanted was for her to feel and act like herself again just a little slower. Myos will remain a part of her daily routine so we all can enjoy the quality and quantity of her life in ours.

    My dog loves it

Bought this for my 12 1/2 yr old greyhound who has recently been experiencing weak and wobbly back legs. Within 3 days, she was no longer shaking. Using full dose 2 x day as directed. I accidentally missed a dose about 3 weeks in and she again started the shaking. 2 doses later and no more shaking. Can tell she is feeling so much better as she is once again exploring and staying out in the yard longer like she used to do. Highly recommend!

    What a difference!

I wish I had taken a before and after picture but I did not. My dog was recently diagnosed with Cushings disease. Unfortunately, we’re thinking it went undiagnosed for at least a year. He was so skinny, (except for his giant pot belly) his spine was so noticeable, and his back legs getting weaker by the week. He has only just finished his first container of MYOS muscle formula and he has already changed drastically! His spine is no longer sticking out and he has really filled in again. Unfortunately, we also found out his back legs are not weakening from Cushings, but from a neurological disorder. So we will never see any improvement in that area, which is why I bought the product. But I am still amazed at the difference one month has made, otherwise!

    Miracle worker

My dog has always been a great walker and can walk miles everyday until one day when he was 15 years old- overnight he had issues getting up and was walking unsteadily. You could see he had issues with his back leg and I checked his legs to find that one thigh was half the size of the other. It happened so quick and he was terrified and I was terrified. Someone recommended Myos to me because he said it built muscles in dogs and I didn’t hesitate to try anything because my dog was miserable and gave up getting up. A week later with Myos, he could not only get up but was walking up and down the carpeted hallway. A month later he was running. He’s now 16 and it’s worth every penny to see my baby walking and jumping again! Oh and his hind muscles are both the same size now

    It’s really works!

I am very grateful for this product. I have a miniature poodle and she is 9 years old. She started to limp and walk very slowly, she doesn’t want to play or run. I’ve tried so many things, nothing works, so I saw this product and decided to give it a try. I’m shocked because in 2 weeks I saw the results!!! This product brings her to life again. It’s unbelievable in a better way! She’s been taking it for almost 3 months now and I’ll keep giving it to her! She is very picky to eat and I mix it in her food and she eats it all with no problem. If you have a dog with muscle or joint problems, give it a try!

    Muscle Up

My puppy is a jumper and jumped over my older dog at 3 months. He landed wrong and tore the soft tissue in his shoulder. I tried this and saw great improvement. It is a bit pricy and I have ordered a larger one to give to my older dog. We will see how it goes.

I swear my dog is getting her strength back!

I have a 12 year old, diabetic, arthritic, Akita who has had some significant muscle atrophy in the last year. She had TPLO surgery about 3 years ago and never fully got back to her old self. With the diabetes she has really slowed down, but still loves getting out for a daily walk. I was looking for something to help with the muscle atrophy and found this product. She had really be straining to stand and had a hard time eating out of her bowl on the floor. She’s only been taking this for 2-3 weeks but I swear she’s getting stronger. Her back legs no longer slide forward when she’s standing to eat. My husband saw her jump up on a curb, something I haven’t seen her do in ages, and it really seems she’s having an easier time getting up! I was hesitant to try this because of the price, and was hoping at the minimum it would just prevent her from getting worse, but it seems to really be helping her! I have not noticed any negative impact on her blood glucose. It’s worth the price to help keep pups comfortable and strong in their older years. Even if this is the best she improves to, it has still helped her quality of life in these senior years and I’m really grateful to see her happy!

    Working great for my senior

My senior boy (14 pug) has been losing muscle in his hind legs and getting weaker to where he’s having a harder time walking for the past few years, so I decided to give this a try. I can see his back legs getting more muscle, and his balance is getting better. He’s also walking around a lot more. I usually take him in a stroller when we go outside to potty and just get him out when he wants to stop for potty breaks, but now he is walking completely on his own the first half of the walk and just wants to be pushed in the stroller going back home. He’s also becoming more of his adventurous old self, climbing up onto curbs and over large rocks instead of just sticking to the flat surfaces. I am definitely sold on this product.

An amazing product for dogs with hind leg injury and weakness

I have just placed my third order of Myos Canine Muscle Formula for my very old Great Pyrenees who has a history of TPLOs in both hind legs and a subsequent devastating injury 3 years after the second TPLO. There is no explanation for the improvement in the strength of his hind legs other than this product. And no, I have no affiliation with this company. I am simply deeply touched to watch my old boy be able to walk up two 8-inch tall steps without support for the first time since his last severe injury 3 years ago. I would have never believed it if I had not seen this happen, two months after I began adding this to his food, which is a high protein freeze dried raw diet. This is an amazing product that not only works but is backed by a 100-dog research study which showed the active ingredient, Fortetropin® to “prevent disuse muscle atrophy in canine patients undergoing a tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO)” for repair of cruciate ligament rupture in the knee joints (stifle) of dog. Granted this study was done by the research lab that produces Fortetropin, but independent studies have widely supported the use of Fortetropin in humans including athletes, mice, race horses, and other animals to prevent muscle atrophy following injury. My old Great Pyr does take Prevocox, which he has been taking continuously since his first TPLO many years ago which reduces inflammation, and he takes Tramadol at night. But this supplement has produced improvement that nothing else has.I had reached the point of considering helping him to walk “over The Bridge.” But not now. Not yet. With the help of this supplement he is not yet ready to go.This time I ordered the double quantity as it saves a bit vs buying two singles. I want to thank Myos for producing this canine muscle strength supplement. Highly recommended. I wish I had been able to access this product long before now. I have a feeling that few veterinarians are even aware of this product and its potential to help post-TPLO patients.

Worked wonders for 12 year old dog!

We started to add this to our 12 year old Lab mix’s food 2x per day and we’ve seen a huge difference. Our senior dog was starting to lose muscle mass in his back legs and was having accidents in the house because he was unable to warn us when he needed to have a bm. He was also having trouble getting on the bed and sofa. Since starting to add this to his food he hasn’t had any accidents and has a much easier time jumping onto the bed and sofa! It’s definitely a noticeable difference in his leg strength and muscle definition. We are so thankful for this product! I was hesitant because of the price, but it’s definitely worth it.

    Game changer

I never leave reviews… but this is an exception.I started using the Myos supplement in June 2022 with my two Briards. A 6(nearly 7) year old boy and 4 year old girl.At the start of the year I noticed a significant decrease in muscle mass in my boy. He went through a bought of anal gland issues and I attributed it to that initially, but I still struggled to put weight/muscle back on him. His coat was dull and breaking and he just looked weak in my eyes. He’s been doing agility since 2018 and I began to notice a change in his ring behavior as well. After a month on Myos I noticed weight and muscle mass returning! He has more pep in his step and his coat is strong, shiny, and full. I did discover later this year that he has significant arthritis in his left hip which has made this supplement even more important. My four year female is the highly active/athlete of the two. She competes in agility multiple times a month. I noticed two significant results since starting her on Myos. 1: the MUSCLES on this girl!!!! It’s hard to see in photos due to her long hair, but the mass in her hind quarters and shoulders is certainly more prevalent. 2: SPEED…. She use to run a typical jumpers course around 35-37 seconds… now she’s averaging 30-32 and even running under 30 seconds in some cases.I’m hooked on this supplement and just added my senior golden retriever on it and look forward to seeing the effects Myos has on her!

Saved our 15 year old Pomchi

For our dog, Myos or fortetropin has been a lifesaver. It’s very expensive – but for many senior dogs, it’s their only option for quality of life or even continued life. Our vet has been tell us that our dog has hind leg atrophy – but only when she took a tumble coming downstairs did she have an injury that threatened her being able to walk at all. Did a little acute kinesio taping to prevent her leg from buckling quickly. Our dog is so-so on the taste after a while (but she is picky), but mixed in with things she likes she takes it and we think it’s meant the difference in her quality of life. The video is 6 weeks on the fortetropin. Since I’m a doctor, I also looked at research studies and saw that it helps old humans with muscle wasting, dogs with hip dysplasia or post-surgical muscle atrophy, and human body builders of all things. The cost is expensive – but I understand it may be expensive to produce. I’ve been able to give her less than a scoop (sprinkle a bit) and it still works. We are grateful for all the help it’s given dogs like ours. Thank you Myos!

This Really Works. Has added much needed muscle to my older dog. NOT FAT.

The doctor who gave Duchess a hip replacement recently recommend this supplement for her. All of her life I had been directed to keep her weight down due to all of her bone diseases so his instructions came as a surprise to me, but her growing immobility was causing crippling muscle loss. She also has degenerative bone disease in ALL of her joints and dysplasia in her real hip, and a host of other mobility issues (elbows, ankles and lumbar spine). Myos Muscle Formula was prescribed to put muscle on her without adding fat, and it has done just that in a matter of weeks. (4 lbs) And the therapists and doctors who massage and stretch and laser her every week have monitored her body for fat increase and assure me there has been none. So clearly this has added weight, but weight that is muscle which is just what the doctor wanted. I read where studies have shown this same MYOS Fortetropin works for older humans (like me) who can’t get enough exercise to prevent muscle atrophy, and for Duchess it is doing the same thing. She really has great difficulty getting around. It is hard to keep her moving and yet if we don’t keep moving she will lose all mobility. Of course she gets pain meds. She also gets laser therapy, controlled weekly swims with underwater treadmill, daily massage and stretching. Everything we can do to keep her able to walk. She is a brave soul and is still walking in her own limited way. And clearly she is doing better the last few weeks after almost 2 months on Canine Muscle Formula, and while I was afraid of putting weight on her, I have objective reason to believe it is MUSCLE now being added, (like the Dr. intended) and muscle she needed. Nothing else has changed in her regimen to cause this improvement in her mobility I am seeing. I have to believe it is the MYOS Canine. I am not saying she has changed into a frisky young dog again, but her decline has plateaued. She is almost 11 and I would like that plateau to remain her state for a long time to come. She is the most wonderful dog I have ever had and the love of my life. Thank you MYOS for helping my darling girl when she really needed something to give her yet another comeback towards a more normal life.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT!! Exactly what you need to help your friend!!

I cannot say enough about this incredible product. My dog is a 16 year old, Rhodesian Ridgeback – Lab Mix. He has thyroid cancer & arthritis. As he has grown older, I started noticing him become weak – especially in the hind legs. So, I looked for a product that might help him.Myos is the ONLY product I’ve tried, & I stick with it because IT WORKS!!My boy had gotten to the point where his back was sunken in & he was crouching low to the ground. After 2 weeks on Myos, he began to stand tall again. After 4 weeks, his back had straightened almost completely! This product works so well for my dog that he gained a ton of muscle mass to the point that I had to halve his dosage to offset his weight a bit to not complicate the arthritis. When I did, within a week, he began to lose strength. I put him back to a full dose, & in 4 days, we was standing tall again. This is how quickly using it/not using it can make a difference! Just find the right dosage to fit your pet’s needs, & you got a winner! 🤩I HIGHLY recommend this product! It is worth whatever price you have to pay to help your friend!

    My Dogs Must Have

I got MYOS as a gift for our 12 year old dog from my brother in law. We noticed within a week he had more energy and within a month his coat was super soft, shiny and healthy. It lasted us a good year before we ran out of it for a week (Hurricane Ian put a nice dent in our finances so we couldn’t buy any. Good ole FL!) During that week our dog whined and slept ALOT. As soon as our order came in he immediately knew it was for him and I kid you not, energy back in full force. This is a great product and completely worth the price for your furbaby. Especially the old fluffers like my Duke. Thank you MYOS and Amazon for helping us give the best quality of life to our furbaby.

Eggs Allergies in Dogs is Prevalent

Last week I started Lucy (11 years old) on Myos. This new product made of Egg Yolks claims to help with muscle rehab and I was excited.Within 2 days of starting that product is when the dizziness started (Vet called it Vestibular Neuritis) and suggested it is geriatric related. Ok, she is getting older. Check. However, a quick search on Egg allergies in dogs points to ear infections. Her ears are super sensitive. The vet did an ear cytology that was negative. But it is possible an allergy to the product was enough to irritate the inner ear (in my opinion).I started the Myos on Wednesday 2/16, noticed the dizzy behavior Thursday 2/18, tried to exercise her on Saturday 2/19 and she fell over, wobbling, couldn’t focus her eyes. She didn’t want to eat Saturday, so that was her last Myos dose. She continued to fall over while walking on Sunday 2/20 and Monday 2/21. Vet trip on Tuesday 2/22. By Wednesday 2/23, she is all better. It could be coincidence, but I am not taking any chances with my baby. I will find another way to improve her muscles. Swimming and vitamins come to mind.DO YOUR RESEARCH ON DOGS AND EGG ALLERGIES.PSShe loved the flavor.

It works! Give it 2-3 months.

UPDATE: Myos was using a plastic container which was much more convenient scooping the product and eliminating waste from sticking to the bag. Now they are back to th cheap PITA bag that about a scopp worth sticks to. PLEASE BRING BACK THE PLASTIC CONTAINER WITH LID! Regardless, it is still a great product! My GSD suffered a CCL and Grasillis injury. We gave this to her for a few months and did PT in hopes we could avoid surgery. Her Muscle mass increased in the injured leg, but the knee injury did not improve which we knew was a 50/50 chance. We are scheduled for surgery this week to clean up the knee. The vet was impressed with the amount of muscle mass retained and also gained in the injured hind leg. Her weight in May 2020 was 113.00 lbs. Her weight on October 2020 was 113.70lbs. She did not gain more than a pound, I’d say she gained muscle and lost some fat since muscle weighs more than fat and she certainly gained a good bit of muscle and maintained the same weight. Good stuff, a little pricey. I use my points each month to purchase so that helps not break the bank. We use 1 1/2 bags /mth.

Packaging pictured is not what you get

My dog just started taking Myos after experiencing major muscle loss in his hind legs and hips from long term prednisone use. I’m not sure how well it’s working, but I’ve heard good things, so I’m hopeful. The product is expensive, so I hope my dog doesn’t need to be on it very long (he’s only five years old, so his health issues aren’t due to age). The first time I bought Myos, it was from my dog’s rehabilitation facility and it was even more expensive ($133), so I was looking for a less expensive place to order it. I decided to order from Amazon, but was disappointed that the photo of the product is a plastic airtight container vs. a flimsy resealable pouch. Thankfully, I still have the original plastic container, so I’ll transfer the contents to it.

    Not immediate but improving

Well, I cannot say that this product turned my dog into a puppy again. I have an 11-year-old dog whose back leg muscles are starting to deteriorate as she shifts her weight to her front legs to protect her arthritic hips. She has been taking Myos for about 3 months now and as much as it annoys me- because it is pricey- I am definitely noticing more meat on her back legs now, and a bit more strength on the stairs. I did not notice these improvements until almost 2.5 months of daily supplementation. My dog is a picky eater so doesn’t always eat the entire dose, which I sprinkle on her food. A note- you can get it cheaper on their website if you buy two at once. Even if you are just trying it out, do so for at least two months before you throw in the towel. For us, even a small improvement is worth the cost.

Myostatin Inhibitor Can Lead To Heart Failure

MYOS Canine Muscle Formula may do what it claims to do in terms of building muscle. However, you need to know the mechanism of how this works and what can happen as a result of not knowing what this truly is. Fortetropin aka MYOS is a myostatin inhibitor. Myostatin Regulates Energy Homeostasis in the Heart and Prevents Heart Failure. So what do you think will happen if you suppress the very thing that prevents heart failure? I can tell you from personal experience of what I went through this past weekend in trying to save my dog’s life. On day three of giving this product to my dog, she started exhibiting serious symptoms of anxiety which worsened into rapid breathing. I had to take her to the emergency room, because when I listened to her heart, it was beating three times faster than normal and I feared a heart attack may happen. If you see your dog panting excessively after consuming this product, be careful. Your dog could very well suffer a heart attack or have kidney failure and you may not even have known it was because of this product. This product is a myostatin inhibitor. Remember this fact. It can ruthlessly damage the heart and the kidneys in a matter of days, especially if your dog is genetically predisposed to such conditions. If there are dogs out there who have truly benefited from this product without suffering organ damage, brilliant. But my dog was not one of them. I will be having her labs run later this week to see if there are any serious damages. Racing to the ER while she gasped for air, with her thorax ballooning in and out, I had to share this extreme experience because I know that my dog’s not the only one who’s suffered this way.

    So far so good

We were told about this product for our 12yo German Shepherd. We bought it and she loves the taste. She’s only been on it for about 2 weeks so there’s not really a noticeable difference in her mobility or anything yet. We suspect we will see improvement around the 8-10 week period. So if you’re on the fence about buying this, just do it but give it TIME! It’s not going to happen overnight!

Dog had diarrhea after 2-3 weeks of this

I’m wondering based on what I’m reading if this needs to be refrigerated. I did not see anything to that effect on the label, but after taking this 2-3 weeks and seeming initially to be ok, our dog got terrible diarrhea. Maybe the egg yolk goes bad if not refrigerated? We did have to take him off it because of the diarrhea.I’m not sure if it helped him or not, he was recovering from an injury and has been in doggy PT for six weeks. He is much better, but again I don’t know if it was this product or just the PT.

    Myos Really Really Works!!!

A few months ago, my then 10 1/2 year old Labrador, Bubba, started showing some ominous signs of deterioration: his back legs began to be shaky, he started slipping on uneven ground, and going upstairs started getting very difficult. He also began to have painful muscle spasms in his back legs. I was so worried that this might be the beginning of the end for him. We started giving him Adequan, a very expensive injectable medication prescribed by his vet. He got a bit better, but not all better. Then we discovered Myos. It was unlike any other supplement I’ve tried with my dogs. We gave it according to directions, which in his case is 4 scoops per day. Within a couple of weeks, he started showing significant improvement. Now he is so playful, and wants us to throw balls and toys for him again, loves his walks, and best of all, his muscle spasms have completely disappeared! I’m completely sold on Myos, and plan to give it to him for the rest of his life. If its great effects begin to wane, I’ll ask our vet to prescribe the extra strong prescription level Myos. I’m so grateful this product exists. The only downside with Myos was the original container bag, which was difficult to close and keep closed between feedings. The company has now changed from bags to nice cannisters, making Myos simply perfect. I even checked in to the possibility of taking the human Myos,( I think it’s called Yolked) but decided not to, due to my high cholesterol, and its being formulated from egg yolks. This is just an amazing product.

    This stuff works!

I’ve tried everything that the Instagram algorithm keeps throwing at me to help a very old dog have better mobility. She never really had arthritis or any injuries and the hemp products make her lose weight instead of gain weight. They might mask pain but they don’t seem to provide healing. She’s been on MYOS for 1 week and I would say her ability to stand, walk around by herself outside etc. has improved substantially. She’s gained 2 lbs and it definitely seems to be muscle-related. I love that it’s one ingredient. It has no smell, no listed preservatives, I mix it into her wet food and this picky AF doggie has no objections. Very impressive. Do you make a people version for muscle wasting in the elderly?

Worked as advertised for my 12 year old black lab Australian Shepherd mix

I have a 12 year old black lab Australian Shepherd mix who had pretty much lost most of the muscle mass in his back legs. I also have a 2 year old APBT Chow mix. As you would expect all the 2 year old wants to do is play. He was constantly knocking the 12 year old down. I started this stuff along with a daily exercise regiment – 20 sit / stand, 5 runs up the stairs and 2 weeks ago walk backwards on his hind legs for 10 feet. The 1st 3 times he walked backwards he didn’t make the 10 feet. He does now. He is also playing back with the 2 year old, I can’t remember the last time he was bowled over. He actually had the zoomies the other night. It’s been years since he’s had them. The goal is to get him to walk up the stairs normally and be able to climb into my truck again. When we run up the stairs he climbs them normally. His muscles are clearly growing back and I have to believe this stuff had a lot to do with it. I don’t believe in ‘silver bullets’, if you’re willing to put the effort in, together with this stuff you will see results. It’s made a tremendous improvement in my 12 year olds quality of life. Not at all sure what the questions for the stars are – sorry, I didn’t taste it – and thickness? It’s a powder – value for the money, is anything really worth what you pay for it? The stuff gets 5 stars in my book.

A little too early to tell

Maisey is my 10 year old, 70lb lab mix. She is starting to get a bit stiff in the hips and looks like she lost a bit of muscle. Prescription meds upset her tummy so I thought I give this a try due to the positive reviews. She loves the flavor and, after using for about a month, she seems to be moving a bit better. (Note; she is already eating a premium dry dog food that is high in fish oils. I have also started to give her a high dose of liquid glucosomine, chondroitin, etc.) We’re just finishing the 1st jar so it is hard to tell. She’s definitely more energetic so I can assume that she felling less discomfort. Pricey (IMO) but, if we get the results that others have gotten, will be well worth the investment. Ordering my 2nd jar today.

    Does as advertised!

As a certified veterinary rehabilitation nurse I can attest to the efficacy of this product; it does what it says! Granted, you should always ask your vet if a supplement is appropriate because in some cases of GI sensitivity this is not recommended, but otherwise it is well tolerated. I put my lean dog on it as a preventative supplement as she ages, I noticed a physical change in her muscle mass and abdominal fat within 2 weeks of taking the recommended dose per weight. She is a picky eater, so I was worried, but she took to it immediately. I will say that knowing my dog has a chicken sensitivity made we cautious, but she showed no inflammatory response to the chicken egg product (which does not necessarily affect chicken allergy pets, so check with vet), so I was very pleased. I stopped giving it to her after a year of regular dosing and noticed visible atrophy of her forelimbs within a few weeks of stopping. She’s on it for life. Best purchase, pricey but so worth it. Look at those GAINS!

    It Works!!!! Buy it!!!!

My 11 yr. old Polish Lowland Sheepdog has hip dysphasia and has lost his muscle strength in his hind legs making it very difficult for him to get up off the floor. After endless hours of searching for something to strengthen his muscles, I found Canine Muscle Formula. I read all the reviews and most people had the same situation as me, they had tried everything but nothing helped and their dogs were in pain and had lost most of their mobility. I had tears in my eyes as I read the reviews as I could totally relate to what the owners were going through. They wanted to help their dog but didn’t know where else to turn. Then they found CMF!! I could feeltheir joy as I read how this product is strengthening their dog’s muscles and now the dogs are able to get up off the floor, walk upstairs, jump on the bed, everything the dogs used to do before they lost the strength in their hind legs. I ordered this supplement that night and in about one week, my boy was able to get up off the floor without dragging his hind end for 15 seconds before he was up. He seems happier and now doesn’t lay around as much as he did prior to taking CMF. He still has a way to go, but I see a little improvement every day. I will continue with CMF for the rest of his life. I have introduced my veterinarian to CMF and she was very impressed and is going to start selling the product in her clinic. She is extremely critical of a lot of products on the internet, but after I showed her the Myos videos and the results of the Kansas trial , she was convinced that it works. Do not hesitate to purchase CMF. Be patient, as every dog is different in terms of the amount of time it may take to see results, but you will see improvement and your dog will regain his/her muscle strength. Thank you Myos for this wonderful product.

    Actually works!!

We have two geriatric dogs on this. Our 17 year old cattle dog has severe arthritis in her knees, spine, feet and elbows. She takes multiple meds a day for this but we were out of options medically as she is maxed out on them but still kept collapsing in her hind end trying to go out to potty. We were seriously considering euthanasia due to this except her spirit and joy are still too strong. I saw an ad for this and figured it was worth a try as a last resort. We have been amazed at how much it has helped. She’s been on it for 2 months and can not only walk around better and isn’t collapsing any more, but she now goes down the many steps from our deck to the backyard several times a day and tackles the steps to our basement family room we’re stunned. We know she’s still on borrowed time but it has improved the quality of her life tremendously. Our other cattle dog is 13 and has severe muscle wasting in his back legs from years on medications for his epilepsy. We’ve seen remarkable changes in his ability to get around as well. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive to keep two 50+ pound dogs on it but for us it’s worth it.

    He LOVES the TASTE!!!

The media could not be loaded.

Update: Today is 1/9/23I truly didn’t think my Casey James would still be with us. He was losing muscle mass at a steady rate, starting 2 years ago. He will be 13 years old in 2 weeks. He was looking so frail, had very bad arthritis, having had UAP in BOTH elbows, as a pup, requiring surgery. Age and activity have also taken a toll, along with some bridging in his spine. He is swimming daily, and he is no longer losing muscle mass. Thank you, Myos!!We just started this, for my German Shepherd who is losing muscle mass in his rear. It’s too soon to see if it will work, BUT…my PICKY PICKY PICKY eater dog, who eats to live and doesn’t live to eat, LOVES the taste of Myos. He hates EVERYTHING, so to say I was SHOCKED that he now eats his food if this is on it, immediately, has me just flabbergasted. This is a dog who turns his nose up at London broil!!!! Giving it 4 stars for appeal, will adjust stars once he is on it long enough to see if it works. However, seeing my dog actually eat his food made me 4 star it. Hopefully, it will work and I can 5 star it. My vet said to give this a try, as did a doggie rehab speciailist.

Total Waste! Zero Change! Consider Eggs

I’m sorry, I wanted to believe this would have some benefit but it literally did nothing for my 11yr old. She already a healthy pooch but has slowed some in the past year and I was interested to see if the wonders others claimthey see in their dogs would come through in her. They absolutely did not.The ingredient in this is basically a protein, nothing more. Do some research for yourself, I wish I had before I purchased. Some suggestions you might be interested in:Multi-vitamins (Kirkland 8in1 soft chew for example. Works extremely well to meet your dogs needs and all 3 of mine enjoy them.Hip and Joint Supplement: there is a brand here called Coco and Luna. I’ve seen amazing results with that but again, do your own homework and find the product that works best for your furry friend.Lastly, protein. I’ve switched to simply feeding all of my pooches lean meats with their kibble and WOW, they are really showing the benefits. Firmer builds, clearly more muscle and it seems to have really rounded out their nutrition. You can also look at just mixing in a cooked or raw egg into your pooches meal. Way cheaper than a product like this and every bit as beneficial. Consult your vet to be sure of any supplement you buy.Do some research before buying products like this. Like most every nutritional supplement out there the dosing is usually inflated because it is not sufficiently tested and regulated. The more you use the sooner you rebuy. With any supplement you have to start lower than what the manufacturer gives as a recommended dosage in order to determine your pets tolerance and monitor their health.

11.5 yr old GSD does stairs again.

My 11.5 year old GSD who has always been very strong, energetic and full of life was prescribed an antibiotic in early June that he had a very rare reaction too causing ataxia (wobbles and lack of balance essentially). It took a couple of weeks to determine the cause as we were searching for things like IVDD, stroke, etc. after 3 days off the antibiotics which we stopped early his balanced returned. But in those 2 weeks he had fallen down the stairs to outside numerous times, he would fall over just standing and be unable to get up. He lost a lot of muscle in that time, nearly 10lbs and has been very weak. We’ve been doing laser and acupuncture. We attempted water hydro therapy but he wasn’t having it and he kept losing weight. I have been unable to walk him more than a block bc his legs were too weak and he is too big for me to carry back home if he collapses. 3-4 weeks ago I decided to purchase this supplement and 4 days ago I noticed his hips starting to fill out I could feel some muscle not just bone when scratching his back end. Today for the first time in nearly 2.5 months he climbed up our very steep and narrow stairs 3x and jumped up in bed. I never thought he’d be able to do come up stairs again. He did so with ease. I’m nearly in tears with happiness and hope this continues to just get better as I have been dreading winter snow and ice if he was still weak and unstable.

My dog tore his ccl in November by the end of April we were still struggling to get his muscle strength back because he was so hyper he had caused a couple setbacks. I started this at the beginning of May and now 2 months in he is going up and down stairs on his own and has no limp except for when he first gets up in the morning (he’s an old man though so that’s ok). This product has vastly helped my GSD

In combination with other medications, this product has improved the quality of my 12 year old GSDs life. Originally prescribed by the rehabilitation veterinarian for hind end muscle weakness, this supplement has appeared to improve his heart function. He was diagnosed with DCM in 2018 and has had serial cardiac ultrasounds every 6 months or so. After the introduction of Myos in 2021, his cardiac function parameters have slowly returning to normal over the past year. It is not a “magic bullet” by itself, but has been associated with a dramatic improvement in cardiac parameters. I suspect the DCM heart muscle has “injury cytokine(s)” to which the Myos product has responded. Obviously, this is anecdotal, but careful serial sequential cardiac ultrasounds, point to this product as the reason for improvement in cardiac function. As an aside, it is relatively expensive and, based on the original labelling, I continue to keep the product refrigerated after opening, though I note the refrigeration information is no longer on the label.

    Really does work

I have an 11 year old AmStaff who is getting wobbly in his rear legs. Thigh muscles have started to atrophy due to arthritis pain.Pain meds and joint meds helped for about a year but he just kept getting lazier. Mind you we go for walks at least twice a day.Tried this fertilized egg yolk stuff. One large can, one month later and my big boy is coming back.(80 lbs). He now is starting to run more, plays more with the other dogs, plays fetch again and generally is more active. His back leg muscles have measurably increased. Now that he is moving again he has started to lose a little weight.Bottom line. This stuff worked wonders for my dog. Just what he needed to get him started to enjoy life again. Working on 2nd can and will use it for the rest of his life.Worth every penny.

    Palatable and seems effective

My incredibly picky senior dog loves the flavor. We used to have to add treats to get her to eat her dry food, but now I add a scoop and she gobbles her food right up (most of the time anyway). It’s too early to tell if she is building muscle, but she does look like she has put on a little weight and it’s getting her to eat on a regular basis so that’s still a win.UPDATE: After several months of use, I can definitely tell a difference. My dog is stronger and able to get up on her own much more often than she used to (she is a senior with hip dysplasia). Not a cure by any means, but seems to have improved her independence and quality of life.

    Amazing!!

My 4 year old male Rottweiler suffers from hip dysplasia. We have tried everything. Glucosamine didn’t make much of a difference, but this? It’s been about two months and he’s back to his energetic self. He doesn’t wake up stiff, and isn’t bed bound the next day if he played the night before. His tremors have lessened and he can stand longer. Not to mention this has built up his muscle back to where it was, if not more. He is over all a happier dog. It’s expensive but a small price to pay for seeing your dogs quality of life improve.
