Primal Freeze Dried Adult Dog Food

A safe, nutritious, and delicious way to make dry adult food taste great is to add Primal Freeze-Dried Adult Dog Food as a topper to the kibble.

7 Ounce – $19.98 ($2.85 / oz)
1 Pound – $39.98 ($2.50 / oz)
1.56 Pound – $59.98 ($38.39 / lb)
2 Pound – $79.96 ($39.98 / lb) (not available in BEEF)
3.13 Pound – $119.96 ($38.39 / lb)

You’re probably wondering if I’ve lost my mind recommending a grain-free food for dogs.  I promise I’m not crazy.

The more we study how grain-free diets cause some dogs to get dilated cardiomyopathy, a potentially fatal heart disease, the more we think it is due to the pulses they use to replace the grains for a carbohydrate source.  Pulses are things like peas, chickpeas, beans, etc.  Primal Freeze-Dried Adult Dog Food does not have any pulses in it, even though it is grain-free.

Second, Primal Pronto is extremely expensive.  There are about 12.5 cups in the 25-ounce bag, which costs about $60.  So for a 50-pound dog, you’re spending $60 every 3 days.  That’s not practical unless you have a very small dog.

What I recommend is using this as a topper to a complete and balanced dry dog food at least a few times per week.  Your dog will LOVE you for it!  And you’ll be supplying safe, complete, balanced, raw nutrition at the same time for a reasonable cost.

You can also use it as a training treat.  Since you’re feeding a complete and balanced food, you don’t have to worry about training your dog with treats.

I only recommend raw food for healthy adult dogs.  Puppies, seniors, and dogs with chronic conditions (besides arthritis) should not eat raw food.  Also, raw goat milk is not safe to feed to dogs, so please ignore that labeling recommendation.

    It’s their favorite

Doesn’t matter how I feel about it. I don’t eat. My Maltese boys love it. They’ll pick it out of a bowl with a couple other varieties. It’s that good. It’s quality food with a price that’s higher than I’d like but they are healthy and not overweight. Give it a try. Mix it with another quality food that’s not as expensive.

    Need help stretching these out?

Like many of you who’s dog(s) love this food, but the price has become costly and some mnths…difficult. Well, I’ve come up with some solutions. My oldest Boston Terrier after dramatic changes, decided he no longer liked his food. So after spending a lot of money on numerous dog foods he decided Primal was for him. Ofc the one of the most expensive foods. We did fine, then suddenly his poops became an issue so I started to hydrate with baby food ( 🎃 🥕sweet🥔 an 🍌) a tablespoon of whole cooked oatmeal (NOT INSTANT) and a little fresh cooked chicken. It helps his tummy, and the Primal lasts longer. Hope this helps.

    Good quality for my dog

I believe that the percentage protein, lower than the previous food, has helped lower my dog’s liver values. I appreciate the bag’s seal. It seals well each and every time. The ingredients seem to vary slightly depending on where your reading them… but the core of ingredients seems to be consistent. Expensive!

    A winner!

My little guy has had had GI troubles off and on since he was a pup. I’ve been supplementing with Primal for about a year now with great results. I add it to his dry food (Inistinct Raw for Gut Health) and it seems to be a winning combination. Love the ease of use and storage, but the true prize is the ingredients and processing method that really seems to keep the nutrients in the food and the toxins out.

this works on picky eater dogs

I have had my dog for almost two years now. It is a rescue that is the pickiest eater I have ever seen, except when it comes to human food. So after buying countless amounts of dog food, from fresh to kibble to canned, I end up having to make her food. I always worry about the proper amount, the nutrition, and, of course, the calories. I can’t believe how she loves this freeze-dried topper. This way, all I do now is add 1/4 cup of the topper, to a 1/4 cup of good quality kibble, to a 1/4 cup of shredded chicken breast, 2 tablespoons warm chicken broth, and she gobbles down the stuff. in the last week, i have noticed a slight decrease in weight, and she is more active.. the cost might be slightly higher than making her human food, but it does free up time in my schedule.

    Great stuff!

This is all I feed 10lb mini poodle who’s really picky, she likes chicken but not beef. I give her 1 cup dry in the morning and add water for dinner to 1.5 cup. The price is high but it’s full of really high quality stuff inside and luckily she doesn’t eat too much. Freeze drying is an expensive process but you can also get this frozen at many pet stores such as hollywood feed for less per oz but you’ll have to let it thaw or add hot water to speed up thawing. You could also use it as a topper or mix-in kibble. Primal has a new one called Kibble in the Raw which is cheaper which I am going to try.

    Dogs love it-very good quality

Using freeze dried raw is so much easier than frozen or making it yourself. I like that this has organs and bones too, not just meat. This appears to be a very good quality, dog food, it’s easy to use, and my dogs love it!

    Perfect puppy food

My 6 month old Poochon is extremely pleased with this purchase and for the first time is overly excited to eat her meals. This order came quickly and I am very happy that I decided to make this purchase and will definitely order again.

Before using this food check with your Vet! particularly if your dog is over Five… this is high protein food and it can be very hard for a dog to process as they ge it’s even harder. My dog was near liver failure when we figured out it was the food addition. Dogs need a balance and there isn’t much with dehydrated animal parts.. otherwise the quality is great and love the easy use of it…

Great ingredients especially for dog food

This is a high quality dog food with high quality ingredients. Does’t absorb liquid as quickly as other brands I have used, but the ingredients are high quality so I let that fly. My dog seems to enjoy the taste and is always excited for her doggy dinner

ONLY THING Picky Purebred Puppy will eat

He wouldn’t eat anything and was getting thin and unhappy. After eating Primal Pronto Puppy, his stomach settled down, he has started to gain muscle mass and eat regularly. The Vet didn’t want him to have it because she wants something with more Scientific Data behind it. I’m so ashamed that it took me awhile to realize that Scientific Data is created in a lab with test animals. After finding out which corporations are behind the “Big 5” dog food companies- I think my Puppy is very smart for not eating any of their food.. He also gets the cutest smile on his face while and after eating Primal, and looks like “Pal” on PBS’s Arthur. Havanese are notorious for not eating. It does not make him like his training treats any less. To the contrary, he is more interested because his stomach doesn’t hurt. Also easy to eat when teething.

    My dog loves this stuff

My dog really likes this food and it seems to be made with good ingredients. It can be fed either dry or rehydrated which makes it easy for traveling as compared to the other foods we use, which require rehydration. The only downside is that it’s a bit expensive.

She is eating this but requires milk and hand feeding

Not the best for picky pups. Ours is eating it, but she requires us to soak it in milk and then hand feed it to her. So it is OK, but not the best. Yours might like it, ours says Meh.

    Good for treats

I use these for training treats. They are firm enough not to fall apart in you pocket or treat bag. I also give the biscuits as a food topper. As for quality we can only assume/trust they are based on the packaging… Lord I hope they are or I will be pissed… LOL

    My Picky Boxers LOVE this!

My 2 very picky Boxers absolutely love this food. I like the fact that it is more than just a “topper” and that it is complete and balanced. Since they are so picky with their food I end up cooking for them and then adding this at the end of their meal so that they are getting additional nutrients that they need to remain healthy and well.

    Feeding the diva

I discovered this food on another site and decided to try it based on their reviews. I found the food on Amazon and made a purchase. I am very happy to announce that the diva dog has decided that this is the food to eat. It doesn’t upset their stomach and they eat it without walking off in a snit because I gave it to them. The freeze dried chunks don’t dissolve in the water but they are easily eaten by the dog.

    Benefits of Pronto

I love the Pronto version of Primal raw freeze dried. The smaller pieces don’t get attached to my mini Schnauzers beard and they still have the benefits of raw. The Primal nuggets are too hard to crush for them. With Pronto, their beards don’t smell.

    Our shih-tzu puppy’s favorite

The breeder weaned our shih-tzu puppy on Pure Balance Pro, but since pea protein has been linked to canine dilated cardiomyopathy, we purchased a variety of legume-free puppy foods including from Stella & Chewy: Perfectly Puppy, Raw Coated Kibble Puppy and Super Blends Puppy. We also tried Dr. Marty Nature’s Blend, Mercola, and Instinct Freeze Dried Raw. Although we had to coax Puppy just to try any of these, he loved Primal Puppy Food from the moment I opened the bag. Unlike the Stella & Chewy, Primal has never caused our puppy to vomit. The 3/8″ cubes are neat and easy for him to chew. They make our puppy’s poops easy for him to pass and firm for us to pick up. I particularly like that it contains organic fruits and vegetables, probiotics and chicken raised without antibiotics, steroids or added hormones, which can’t help but contribute to our puppy’s overall health and well being.

    Best travel dog food.

So good for my 18 year old doggo, he loves it dry on the go and it has fully replaced kibble now, but can be used as part of a meal too. Reconstitute it with goat milk powder and pumpkin powder for extra benefits, it’s lightweight and less messy than the brick version, but loses a little in this translation bc my guy goes wilder for the brick kind…. however I recommend this to everyone! He eats it on places trains and hotel beds! Weight loss was immediate and continues. Great choice.

    Picky dog loves it

The only food my goldendoodle will eat. She eats it dry and that saves money too because you don’t need to throw it away after 1 hour because if it’s not wet you can reuse it later. She loves it mixed with crumbled dry primal chicken nuggets. It’s the only food she’s ever successfully eaten without any fuss. My friend’s picky eater dog also tried it and 100% success. Strongly recommend.

Quality and makes a fantastic topper

Bought for my dogs to add better nutrition to their quality kibble. I would use as 100% of their meals if I could afford to. Some of these raw freeze dried foods seem so processed before they are freezedried that they are white in color. This product aS GOOD SIZE CUBES and has been in the raw nutrition business the longest. Also my one dog has chicken allergies. Glad this is completely chicken free.
