Great soft puppy food for puppies and for mama!

This canned food was fantastic. I started my female on it while she was pregnant (as I read that it’s advised you should feed puppy food during gestation) transitioning from the adult kibble and she loved it. With pregnant dogs, it’s hard to not only maintain proper nutrition but also give them something they WANT to eat and this was perfect. After puppies were born and weaning off mama, we also used this same product for puppies and again, it was a HIT. I highly recommend for puppies and adults in need of some extra protein and nutrients!

Delicious (Says my Pup), Nutritious and Well Priced!

We all want whats best for our pups, and after doing considerable research, we landed on Purina Pro Plan. Our dog’s coat visibly improved, the itching stopped after a while, and he seems to thoroughly enjoy it. I can’t personally comment on the flavor, but I see all indications that he seems to love it.

I bought this food for my late 15 yr old dog. I was looking for something that would keep him healthy as possible and he loved the taste and texture and I would recommend this to anyone that would be interested in this product.

I bought this off a wishlist for a rescue mission. I love that it was so affordable for a pack of cat food and that it was also able to be sent directly to the mission.

I’ve been feeding all my dogs (5 of them) purina pro plan for quite a while. However, I buy the cans for someone who rescues dogs and cats. This is what she requests so it must be good.

My Puppy and all my dogs love it

My 4 month old Chihuahua puppy, along with my older Chi, loves the food. I started buying this for her on my Vet’s recommendation because of the years of studies that Purina does on dogs and cats. My vet likes that she can call and speak to a representative from Purina if there are any questions about the food. That was good enough logic for me! I get so confused with all the high protein no grain stuff out there, that I can’t really afford for my 5 dogs. I do want to buy them the best though, so I feel pretty good about feeding her Purina after discussing it with my vet.The pup came to me with Giardia, but with a week of meds and the food, she is all clear. I don’t know how much the food had to do with that, but she tolerates it very well, even when she was sick. I do warm it for her after it’s been in the fridge (because, you know, she is just a baby!). She is doing very well on it. She is healthy and growing “big” and beautifully. Her coat is shiny and she is very happy. The cans came to me just fine, quick and in great shape. Hopes this helps!

    I Wish Dogs Loved This

I foster for rescue, which includes whelping litters. Mama dogs are always fed high quality puppy food, which I then use when puppies transition to solids. Or, I use puppy food for severely malnourished fosters. Suffice it to say, both mama dogs and emaciated dogs are typically excited about food.My dogs’ vet lists proplan as a one of the brands of dog foods that they recommend. All that being said, have wasted so many cans of this because the dogs that have passed through my home just do not love it. That’s over 200. Have thrown away so many cans of this in half eaten bowls. Same with pro plan kibble.I want to use proplan, I really do. But my dogs and my foster mama dogs and puppies just do not enjoy it. If proplan were to somehow change the taste and palatability, we’d try it again in our household.

    Dog loves it

I have a lab puppy. I had been feeding him Hills Science Diet large breed dry food. Decided he was not gaining enough wait. Based on vet recommendation, bought the Pro large breed puppy dry food (still have a bag of dry food of older stuff) and this. He loves it. He recently has gotten very sick, and is/was on two antibiotics, non-steroidal inflammatory (finished), anti fungal and unfortunately a steroid. He gobbles the food up with the pills on top in one bite. He has not shown any stomach distress with all of these hard on stomach meds. Has not had an appetite for dry food, so thankful for this. Was at another vet and she concurred that her dogs eat this too.

Good product, arrives safe and not dented

I’ve been purchasing this since 3/2019 for my borzoi puppy in addition to dry food. I have a Purina for Professionals account (but can only buy a limited number of cases/bags per month), from brick and mortar stores, and through amazon. Lately I’ve been having a lot of problems with receiving dented cans direct through purina, they arrive perfectly safe and sound every time from amazon. Price is much higher but my puppy eats two cans of just wet food a day so when I run out I run out. It’s puppy food so it smells gross, my dog loves it. As a veterinarian I get asked about food/nutrition all the time. It’s a headache for dog owners who want safe quality food. Keep in mind how much of your money goes into marketing and pick a food that your pet likes, eats consistently, doesn’t cause GI/skin issues, and that you can afford and feel comfortable with. I’ve fed many brands and have been using Purina for dogs and horses for many years. They stay out of the news and quality control seems satisfactory.

    Good value

Our vet recommended this for our new puppy that came to us with all sorts of stomach bugs and worms and had barely been able to get off puppy powdered formula at 12 weeks old.At first we mixed this with her formula, then after a week with a little water and now we just give it to her straight. She loves it!Our 11 year old chow keeps trying to sneak bites of it when we lay it down for puppy so it must smell good to them. This price is more then the grocery store prices but I have a hard time finding it, so it’s just worth it to pay a the 7 bucks more per case to not have to waste my time searching and have it delivered .

    She loves this stuff!

I started off using Purina Pro Plan shredded chicken and meat (dry food) for puppies with my older dog and now she’s on the same for adults. She will literally eat the whole bowl in one day plus more if I let her. So when we got a new puppy and began to wean her off of her mother’s milk, we decided to try this. She loves it. Now she will eat the whole can plus more if we let her.The taste is hands down the best part (i’m sure) in my dogs’ opinion and the ingredients look pretty decent too. However, the greatest part about this dog food to me is that it improves my dogs’ coat. There aren’t any stores around me that carry the Purina Pro Plan line, so sometimes I have to use other dog food until this one is delivered. There is a major difference in both dogs coat. I have a maltese mix and cocker spaniel mix. Also, the cocker spaniel mix has terrible puppy breathe, but not so much with this.Product arrived as stated. All cans were accounted for, undamaged, and not spoiled.

    Sensitive Tummy Beware

I thought this would be a good puppy wet food to transition my puppy with. Wrong. She is 9 months about 10lbs, toy goldendoodle. She practically eats anything and her stomach has been hurting so bad today she doesn’t want to eat anything – Charley bears (freeze dried liver), rice, chicken heart or breast. Before she was eating dry kibble hills science diet. She’s also been nauseated, vomits mucous sometimes, and her tummy is bloated and gurgling. If you know or suspect your pup has a sensitive stomach… do not buy this. She experienced some symptoms after a day or two of eating this brand. After a week we’re realizing it’s the puppy food. Yes, I slowly introduced her to the food and I provided the recommended amount of 1 can a day for her weight.

    Our Corgi Loves It

We have been feeding our corgi puppy the dry kibble Purina Pro Plan and thought we’d try this with her. She loves it and eats everything. Even licks the bowl. We do mix a little of the dry kibble and split the can into thirds when we feed her. This was also recommended by her breeder and vet. Amazon’s price was about what we’d have paid for at the local pet shop, but having it delivered to the house the next day (Prime) with free shipping was the where you see the value.

    Updated Review

Originally I thought this was causing my puppy diarrhea and liquid poo but I don’t think that was the case. I stopped feeding this for a few days then added some to another wet food. The puppies did not experience any diarrhea. No upset tummies either. I was able to get my 5 year old, super picky dog to eat it also.I will order again.

    My puppy loves this product!

Definitely expensive but my puppy loves this product. Every time i open up a can, he just cannot control himself. I would add his powdered medication and mix it in with the wet food and he still finishes in one setting. The only downside is that the smell is strong, i would have to run my air purifier close to his food area just to deter the smell overpowering the room

A Half the cans were dented & 3 of them weren’t sealed

I didn’t look at the case of dog food when it arrived too carefully. When I started to feed it to my dog I found that half of the cans were dented. Not a big deal, at least not until I got to the cans that were dented so badly that they had lost the seal. It was all moldy at the top and I had to throw those ones out. My dog does love this, but then he loves all canned food I have given him. I bought this because it is one of very few canned dog foods that are meant for puppies, and it was one of the most affordable ones too. I was disappointed that the food comes all ground up in a paste. Some of the adult Purina canned foods have actual pieces of meat and rice that you can see (there is usually a picture of what it looks like on the back). I have also read up on some of the ingredients here and I am going to switch to another brand with better ingredients and with ingredients that I can actually see, even if it means feeding my dog an adult formula. Purina isn’t bad, but if you can afford to spend a little more there are much better brands out there.

    High quality puppy food

As the owner of a breeding kennel, I want the best for my dogs. Pro Plan makes high quality dry food, and all of my dogs do well on it. I don’t usually recommend feeding canned food. But when I had a puppy that refused to eat the softened dry food, I was glad to find this Pro Plan canned puppy food. The puppy thrived on this food, and I now mix it with goat’s milk for all of my puppies as they transition to solid foods.

Hi there so my puppy was rescued from Mexico and he was alarming how malnourished. The vet told me that food that was “non grain” is actually found to be problematic due to heart problems… I have also found on my own that it does not provide enough fiber when a dog is pooing to help empty the anal glands… My dogs that have been on non grain food begin to scoot and then it causes sores that can easily get infected…I started cooking some brown rice and tossed it in with canned food (NOT THIS FOOD) and within days the problem went away. THAT SAID..with this food I no longer have to put the extra rice in because it has it… withing days my puppy started gaining weight after I fed him this… Hope this helps.

    Our puppy loves it!

We have a 8 month old, 80 pound German Shepherd that’s going to be HUGE, the vet says about 120 pounds. He had gotten very bored with his dry puppy food to the point of just walking away and not eating, so the vet agreed to let us exchange part of the dry with this puppy food. I just mix the dry and wet together and he LOVES his food again. Our adult English Lab wanted his bowl instead of hers, so I just mixed some in with her food. She loved it too. These came in a half box, with heavy shrink plastic on it. I was disappointed that a couple of the cans were bent in on the sides. I always check my canned goods, as I don’t want any bent cans. It’s an OCD thing for me. So I just cringed when opening those cans, but of course the puppy didn’t have any issues with it. Well he wanted more.

    Good nutritional content!

Most canned foods say “one can for every 10lb of weight” which would mean my puppy would be eating 7 cans a day. This one is in alignment w cups of premium dry kibble— so thankfully not just empty calories. If I wanted non-nutrient dense food I’d just add meat + veggies to his kibble. This nutrient profile is perfect for ensuring your dog is eating what he needs to grow healthy and strong but still makes the kibble more enticing.

There are all kinds of puppy foods out there but this one was recommended by my vet, he told me to feed it to my female dog, my mini doxy had pups 6 weeks ago and let me tell you, this puppy food is one of the best made by Purina, the pups are growing fast, smart and full of energy, they are healthy as can be and now they are eating it as well as their mom, I highly recommend it even for just regular and senior dogs, my vet told me the same thing, your dog will love it!

    Purina helps!!!

This was a great alternative to the brand’s dry food. My new labrador retriever puppy is prone to bloating while eating and using the softer version of her food has helped alongside a slow feeding bowl. Purina is the top dog food brand and I have trusted it for many years with all of my dogs. Now with any diet change puppies have sensitive tummies and mine did have one day of her stool being watery but adjusted well once we fully moved her to the wet food. The packaging has serving recommendations and all of the cans came well packaged and were easy to open. I highly recommend Purina brand dog food, it has always been safe and I personally have never heard of it being recalled.

My dogs love it and do better on this than a few …

I already use this food and have been for two years. My dogs love it and do better on this than a few more expensive foods I have tried them on. I feed the puppy one to my adult Maltese because she has a hard time keeping weight on with how active she is and this is a little better for her than the adult version of this food. This is my first time ordering this from Amazon though. I decided to order this from Amazon instead of Petco because it is cheaper on Amazon and got free prime shipping! Much better than me having to drive to the Petco which is out of my way to pick it up. It’s a win, win! I was worried about the cans coming damaged from the shipping but they were just fine and the expiration date is well over a year away. I will be ordering this product again and hopefully have the same shipping results!

We have a Malti-poo and a Chihuahua both at the 6-month mark. They look forward to half a can in the mornings and half a can at night. We also use the kibble from the same company for their grazing bowl throughout the day! Shopping around made a difference for us! Amazon Subscribe and Save to the Rescue!!

I cannot give a personal opinion on the actual taste but I will say that this canned dog food smells like human food. Of course my dogs love it and go crazy when they hear me pop the lid. But it literally smells like something I would make for dinner. Not sure if that’s a good thing. But It’s a great quality product with the right balance of tasty ingredients that my dogs enjoy.

A+++ puppy approved and picky parent approved

I am someone who only wants to give their animal the absolute best. I did a lot of research to see what food is the best for my dog. I have a Malamute puppy. It was between wellness core, blue puppy, and royal canin. I bought the blue and this one a case of each to try first. After puppy tried the purina she will not TOUCH the baby blue. She loves the purina pro beef and also the chicken. We started with the variety pack. Then went to chicken high protein as she is a growing girl. She devours the purina like I have never seen before it is so meaty and juicy now my older dog wants purina too and not his royal canin which is fine with me as it’s Sooo pricey! So I am a fan of this and recommend it!

I’m putting a third of a can of this in with my new pup’s dry food at lunch every day, and you can tell she’s crazy about it. Now when she sees me pull the container that I keep the remainder of the wet food in from the fridge, or when I’m opening a new can, she gets noticeably excited.I’ll definitely be repurchasing this in the future.

Had to switch to dry food

I served this to my puppy for about a month while weaning him off milk. I slowly incorporated dry food because I read that half dry, half wet was the best of both worlds for a puppy, plus wet food softens the kibble. However, I noticed that he eats more when there’s less wet food. As far as dry food, I give him Hill’s Science. At 10 weeks, I decided to donate the remaining Purina cans and just feed him that. His appetite isn’t as strong when I add this stuff.

My dog loves this product. She quickly eats it whenever I put it in her bowl. I was disappointed by the quality of handling during shipping though. Our Pup LOVES This

We have a 1 year old standard poodle who loves this food. We will occasionally mix this in with her dry food (same formula) to switch it up a bit, and will sometimes feed her just the wet food if she’s not feeling great or not eating well. We use the same formula in the dry food, and when she gets picky and won’t eat the dry food, we just mix some wet food in it and it’s like a whole new dish to her. She loves it.

My dog loves this food and unlike a recent case from a different vendor where 3 of the cans were dented, none of Amazon’s cans were dented. It is my understanding that dented cans can result in tainted food so it is important.

Nauseating smell that lingers forever!!!!!Better off buying dry kibble; soaking in water and mixing up chopped chicken!

My Morkie absolutely loves this brand of wet, the breeder had her on it and we’ll continue to feed it to her. We recently decided to which to the dry purina focus puppy kibble as well. She was initially eating dry kibble brand Fromm which I believe was upsetting her tummy! Thanks Purina

My dog loves it. She is an old dog, and she eats every bite when I serve this to her. One of the can had mold on the surface – it look like the seal was compromised during shipping before it got to our house. (this is the reason for one star off) I will be careful with these pop-open cans, and will inspect carefully upon opening.
