Directions

We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow your dog to become overweight. The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment. But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily. MAKING THE SWITCH TO PRO PLAN: Although you’ll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow 7 – 10 days to ease the transition from your dog’s current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you’re feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets. Contains a source of live (viable) naturally occurring microorganisms. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. For your pet’s health, see your veterinarian regularly.

    Puppy Loves It

Use this food for my great dane pup to prevent knuckling. He loves the food, it does not upset his stomach, and his bones and joints are doing well.

    Perfect

So good for my German Shepherd, smells and makes her breath stink but it did resolve her skin issues so it’s totally worth it

    My dog loves it!

After struggling with stomach issues and vomiting and refusing to eat all together I finally stumbled upon this purina pro plan food and I am so glad I did! My dog loves this stuff! I don’t even have to mix in cheese to bribe her to eat it and her belly seems much better too – almost 3 months now with no vomiting! Nice healthy poops and a great appetite plus her coat is silky soft like when she was a puppy!

Great food and dogs love it

This is a great food for dogs that have any type of stomach issues and also gives them a great coat with long term use. Best of all, my dogs love the taste of it and eat it right up which they don’t do for a lot of different foods. I definitely can recommend this food and my dogs give it all paws up.

    Great value

Our labs have sensitive stomachs. Upon suggestion from our vet we switched to the food for both cost effectiveness and tolerability. So far their stomachs stay settled and the coat looks great. We were utilizing other higher priced foods before but this product is more consistent and better value.

My dogs love the chicken but…..

I have 3 dogs, and 2 of the 3 refused to eat this for days. We ended up going to have to purchase the chicken blend again to make sure they ate. Just for reference they will over eat the chicken blend if given the chance.

Less product for the same price

This is a very average food and the only reason I give it to my dog is because my vet recommended it because he has a sensitive stomach. However, I do not like being treated like a fool and get my subscription changed from the 35 lb bag to the 34 lb bag for the same price. This will be likely the last bag I will buy as the benefit and the quality per dollar was not there before and it is obviously lower now with the price per lb increase.

Good dry food, but not for allergies

I was happy to try this dry food out for my two pitties and it arrived quickly. I was concerned to see it advertised as a fish-based food, when I could see on the ingredients list that it has a beef-base to the formula. Usually when dog owners are looking for a salmon or trout food, it’s due to allergies. Beef is a common allergen for dogs, so it was disappointing to see that.My dogs, however, do like it. Neither have allergies and are able to eat all kinds of food. On this dry food, neither had upset stomachs and no one had excessive gas (they are pitties, so there’s a known level for that LOL). Their stools are not soft and mushy and not too firm. Their skin has not become itchy or anything, and they seem in good health on this dry food. So, it’s a good, mid-range dog food but not for anyone with allergies.

    My dogs approve

My dogs like the taste. They’ve had no stomach issues from switching the foods. It’s a large back for a decent price considering how high quality pro plan tends to be. I love feeding my dogs a good food I can trust.

    My dog loves it

While I am not terribly fond of the smell of this dog food, my dog has been enjoying it quite a bit. I started feeding it to my 14-year old dog by mixing this in with his old food, and he clearly demonstrated a preference for this new flavor. True, this could be just because it is different, but it’s also true that he could have avoided it.So, while cost and to a lesser degree smell are things that would give me pause in ordering it again, my dog enjoys this and give it his four paws (or stars) of approval.

He likes it and it gives him some variety

I have used a Chicken and Rice formula since my Pitty was a puppy and he is three years old now. I tried other dry foods, but this was the only one that wasn’t too rough on his soft stomach. I tried this formula and he has either grown up enough to not be so sensitive, or it actually works on dogs with soft stomachs. I am going to try a couple of other brands just to see which it is.In the meantime, I think this one is a solid food for my dog and he gobbled it up and looked around for more. Overall a solid buy, but a premium price to go with it.

Very extra large bag of good kibble

Was fostering two Great Pyrenees for a few weeks and this food was perfect in feeding them and getting their coats back in good condition. One of the dogs had itchy skin and this food did seem to help relieve that along with a few baths. Dogs liked eating this food and had no digestive problems with it.

Tried this for my 2 large dogs

I have 2 large dogs, a doberman and a German shepherd. The doberman has an iron stomach and can eat anything, but the German shepherd has not been so lucky in that department. His stomach is quite finicky and he has a real problem with chicken. I was excited to see this didn’t have any chicken ingredients listed, as it’s hard to find foods that don’t have it. We’ve only fed this a couple times and we mixed it with their regular food, to avoid issues with changing their diet, but so far we haven’t seen any issues. I will update my review if anything changes as we haven’t been on it long term yet.

    My pups love it

My pup has a possible allergy to chicken. The vet recommended switching foods. We ordered this and my girls absolutely love it. I mixed with the other food we have. They tear into it. Before my girls would knibble here and there. They are free fed. There are some mornings I will come down and the bowls will be empty. Pups approve of this.

    The dogs love it!

Our dogs love this food! They took to it immediately. We have been beneful family for a while and they really dug right in. No upset stomachs, no issues at all. We’re really happy to see how healthily they are eating. The price tag is a bit much. With 4 dogs, we’ll be paying quite a bit. But it’s well worth it if they are healthier and happier.

    My dogs love this food

This food is large kibble but even my 18 pound miniature goldendoodle loves this kibble. My 90 pound Weimaraner has sensitive skin and he is 12 years old so I do not feed him food with chicken or chicken byproducts. This sensitive stomach and skin with salmon and rice is kind on my dogs skin and stomach. I did notice that their feces was looser and a lighter color while still being well formed. The kibble itself is a medium dark brown and of medium density.I have used this food for several years. My Weimaraner, Aussie doodle and mini goldendoodle enjoy this food with enthusiasm.

I normally get this brand in a different flavor

I buy this brand in a different flavor regularly, but one of my boys tends to have a sensitive stomach on occasion so I thought I’d try this variety. This food has a fishy smell, but that is to be expected, it is salmon. Date on the bag was well before the expiration date. Both of my dogs ate this fairly well, but I am not going to continue feeding it to them. I don’t know if it just digests super fast or what, but they are always starving way before their next meal when they get this food. It is to the point where sometimes they will eat grass because they are so hungry, then throw up, or they even more desperately beg for anything you are eating. I went back to their regular flavor/variety of Pro Plan food and stopped having this problem. I’m a fan of the brand, just not this flavor.

I guess my dog is the odd one out…. it figures

My dog has super sensitive skin and is always itchy. He also is constantly chewing on grass and a lot of times has stomach issues, so when I saw this food I felt like it was made just for him…. I was a bit hesitant only because of the flavor. I guess I had a right to be, and I know my dog very well. He is not a fan of salmon flavor. I have tried a couple of things that are salmon flavored and he wouldn’t touch them. I think it has a lot more to do with the smell more than the flavor itself, because he won’t even attempt to eat after smelling for about 5 minutes. I should have gone with my first instinct. It’s a shame because I think this would have really helped him a lot, but he is just too stubborn. The food seems to be a high quality, high nutrition food, although the price point is a bit on the higher end for me. I did give the food to my dad for his 4 dogs, 3 out of 4 approved, the other one doesn’t want any part of it. They’ve been eating it for a little over a week so far, with no stomach upset or any other negative reactions.

Dog APPROVED !!! UPDATED REVIEW !!!

The media could not be loaded.

UPDATED REVIEW——I can’t recommend this food anymore. We have been feeding our dogs Purina Pro Plan for a few years now with no issues BUT after a $500 vet bill because our dogs got sick shortly after starting this kibble(yes, we did do all the transitioning methods for food change). I contacted Purina and was told that they “took out” the probiotics in this particular food. Dogs need probiotics. They recommended to just purchase their brand of ForteFlora packets to add to their food. At $30 for a 30 day supply (x2) is absolutely ridiculous and I will not do it. This seems to be the trend of Purina just to make more money. Is Purina a good food? I guess so BUT them taking out essential things needed by our pets to make more money is ridiculous. I will be changing to a different brand immediately. Purina will not get anymore of my hard earned money. My dog wouldn’t even let me finish filling the storage bucket without diving in for a taste. He LOVES it !!!I have been using Purina brand for years for all my dogs with NO problems or issues. They have ALL lived long, healthy lives. With all the negative rumors about dry kibble, I still have no problems feeding my dogs this brand. It has never let me down in the past and I don’t see it letting me down in the future.I have 2 dogs. One is a pure bred Shepherd and one is a mix. We all know how sensitive their skin and coat can be. I always feed them a sensitive skin/coat variety and usually it’s lamb. But, they seem to enjoy this salmon flavor more. And it will probably be better for them in the long run so I will stick with it from here on out. I usually mix a little homemade food into their kibble but I don’t think that I will have to do that anymore.Purina is a brand that I trust and will continue using. The ONLY drawback for me is the cost. It seems a little expensive for dog food but they are family so I will do what I have to do to keep them healthy. Would I rather feed them 100% homemade? Yes I would because I would know EXACTLY what they are eating BUT you really have to get that right or you might do more harm than good. Not a chance that I’m willing to take. I have never had a problem with Purina and that’s what I’m sticking to.

    Quality ingredients

Nice, large bag of quality food for my picky goldendoodle. She’s not allergic to chicken, like many other doodles, but she doesn’t like it. This makes it difficult because of the prevalence of chicken dog foods or foods that are actually chicken-based but claim to be another protein. She loves salmon. Hopefully she’ll stick with this food for a while before refusing to eat it, which is her MO.

My dog is very picky with her food. To my surprise, she absolutely loves this dog food. The food did not give her diarreah and she has not had gas. I’m very pleased with the ingredients, and I plan on keeping my dog on this food.

My dogs are eating it without any negative side effects

So far so good with this dog food. My dogs get really itchy when switching foods even when it’s done gradually. This food so far hasn’t caused them any itchiness which is great! The only downside to this food is it really smells like fish, so maybe keep it in an air tight container.

…and his mom also approves. 🙂 I’ve fed my cats and dogs purina products for over 40 years and believe it to be a healthy alternative to the cheaper foods. This one is especially good for my 2 year old for sensitive skin and sensitive stomach. Salmon is the first ingredient and he LOVES the flavor. This is a HUGE bag full of healthy goodness. Purina Pro Plan is a good product, and I highly recommend. Good Nutrition

My nephew has four Great Danes that need really good nutrition. My vet told me that Purina is one of the top companies for nutrition research for their pet foods. So I ordered this Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach Dog Food Large Breed Salmon and Rice Formula for his dogs. Nephew says they have used this before and commented on how much the pups enjoy it. These are big eaters, after all. I appreciate the large-sized bag as it is sort of like buying in ‘bulk’, which saves in the long run.

    Great!

My doodle loves Purina and this is great because he has a sensitive tummy. He doesn’t get any table food as it throws him all out of whack. This food seems to stay fresh in the bag.
