Directions

Using a standard 8 oz/250 ml measuring cup which contains approximately 109 g of Pro Plan. We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow your dog to become overweight. The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment. But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily. MAKING THE SWITCH TO PRO PLAN Although you'll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow 7 – 10 days to ease the transition from your dog's current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets. Contains a source of live (viable) naturally occurring microorganisms. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. For your pet's health, see your veterinarian regularly.

If your dog has skin allergy this stuff works

We have tried everything and narrow down our yorkshire terrier food allergy to sweat potatoes or potatoes. Believe it or not almost all dog food and treats have some form of potatoes and sweet potatoes in it. This was a huge challenge trying every limited ingredients dog food to narrow it down. Trial and error. Allergies test says he is not allergic to potatoes. But sweet potatoes is a different from a potatoes not in the same family. We had Nuevo food which worked then albof a sudden he started breaking out again. They changed the packaging and reformulated it and added sweet potatoes. I was confused because it was the same food I thought. I thought I was going nuts I swore it had no sweet potatoes. It really sucked. I saw an ad and review about a lady’s dog who have horrible allergies and food reactions. She said this Purina pro sensitive worked. I checked lable no sweet potatoes. Perfect I gave it a try wala it works. Takes about 30 days to clear up. Good sign is it doesn’t get worse then it already is. Our was close to worse when we started food. Whats nice is it has vitamins, prebiotic, omega oil. All things good for dogs with allergies, stomach issues, bad smells. We are extremely happy and pray tge ingredients stay the same. Hope this helps.

My Bichon loves this food. Great for small/medium size and it definitely helps with itching. One bag lasts him about 4 weeks.

fantastic for my dogs with sensitive skin

I have two rescue chihuahuas who have been itching like crazy on regular foods, I’m a big fan of Purina One and Pro Plan foods and was thrilled to find this salmon one. Slowly brought the dogs over from their other food and the itching is gone. Not all dogs react the same to all foods, but for us, it worked.

    Sensitive tummy…Arf, Arf

My fur baby has a very sensitive stomach. We’ve had her on this dog food for a couple years now after trying a few others. She loves it and she doesn’t have any problems anymore as long as she stays on this. The only downside is it’s fish…and it smells like fish. It’s salmon and her Vet stays it’s very good for her!

    Only food both will eat

I’ve ordered 4 bags of this in the past few months. While that may not seen like much, prior to this food, a 6lb bag of pro-plan gastroenteric(the only kibble they would eat) would last me six months. Literally. They would only eat a little each time. I tried many, many, many brands. Dry food, wet food, raw food, etc. They just never ate it consistently. I gave this specific brand and diet a chance and they seem to enjoy it. Enough that they finish the bowl almost each night. Obviously they were never in danger of starving as I supplement with some raw food and treats, but I really wanted to find a kibble type food for sensitive stomachs so they would get the right nutrients . I’m glad I gave this one a chance! I ordered the 1st bag of chewy bc they have an excellent return policy.Eta: they’re still eating this food consistently so I’m still thrilled

    Two thumbs up from me!

My boyfriend and I have had our dog for a little over 2 years now. Those entire two years he refused to touch any dry food we ever tried. The only way we could get him to eat was mixing canned wet food into it and even then it was a gamble whether he would eat it or not.I finally came across this while browsing Amazon and I’m so thankful I did. I wont say he’s crazy for it but he will eat it without anything added to it and without us begging. His coat has gotten so much better and he seems much healthier and happier.I loooove purina. I also have two cats I started feeding Purina Beyond to a few years ago and despite their old age, they too have improved healthwise. Their coats are shiny and soft and they’re spry and active! I was recently at the vet and asked him what he thought of the food and he said that Purina is a good brand he trusts as well! Our dog is a Morkie. So he’s a small guy, no more than 15 lbs. I believe since this is marketed for smaller dogs that the kibble pieces were much more comfortable in his mouth. He also has a sensitive stomach so this product is perfect! He’s a lot less smelly as well.

Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach Small Bites

My two small dogs (both under 15 lbs) love Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin And Stomachs small bites. They both have delicate tummies and this dog food has been wonderful at preventing digestive issues. Only one of my dogs has sensitive skin and this food keeps her skin and coat in excellent condition. One of my dogs is 14 yrs old and I trust this brand to keep her healthy as she ages (she’s been eating this specific food for several years)My other dog is 2 yrs old and she has a beautiful coat, healthy skin and normal stoolsI don’t personally know if the food tastes good but my dogs love the taste and it does smell good.I’m happy I found a brand that helps me keep my dogs healthy and happy

    Shrinking product size

The food is great for my dog had helped her diet immensely. What is not great is that this product went from a 6 lb bag last year, to a 5 lb bag delivered Feb 7, 2024, and now it is a 4 lb bag. All for the same price. The latest 20% price increase is unacceptable. Do better.

Excellent food, but the constant price increases became the dealbreaker.

I have two small breed dogs, one with stomach issues and one with skin issues. They have been eating this food for years and did very well on it. However, I cannot justify the price increase. I know that everything has gone up in price, however the price of this food has skyrocketed more than most of the other dog foods. I did continue buying it for a while because my dogs do so well on it despite it going up $5-10 a bag every time I bought it. I finally broke down and switched dry foods. If the price of this food comes back down someday, then I will switch my dogs back.

    What is going on?

This is the food recommended from my dog’s vet since she has skin issues. She like it, it’s been good for her problem, and for awhile it’s all been fine. Now I’m having a difficult time locating this food anywhere and when I do it’s gone really far up in price. Is it being discontinued so sellers are price gouging?

    Jack loves this stuff!

I bought this to replace ‘Now’ small breed salmon and rice dog food which is often out of stock and went up 20%.I mixed both foods together for 3 weeks with no issues. Jack is now on Purina sensitive stomach small breed by itself. This looks and smells very similar to the other food at a much better cost, and Jack gobbles it down, so it must taste pretty good. It’s important to me that my dog eat food with nutritious ingredients. I thoroughly checked out this brand and type of dog food prior to purchasing. We were not disappointed! If Jack is happy, I’m happy!PS Jack is a rescue dog. He came to me, his forever home, 3 years ago, and has been spoiled since!!!

    Recommended via vet

After several yrs of feeding my 6.5 yr old Chihuahua/Yorkie most recent Hills Science diet , various RX wet food, and numerous high end brands of dry kibble , his itching and even flea allergy stopped ( pups been on Nexguard and before that Braveto and even takes RX Apoquel from vet, and had weekly baths at home) . No more frantic itching. Vet said he may be allergic to chicken.I do still give him plain cooked minced steak and salmon, mashed baked sweet potatoes or pumpkin, fresh cooked string beans , blueberries, peas , and carrots ( just a 1/2 teaspoon daily of 2 of above veggies).Give the Salmon and Rice small breed of kibble a try.

    Only thing that helped allergies

We tried many different ways to help my dog with her skin allergies. Injections, medications, diet foods, etc. nothing helped. This food is the only thing that actually helped her stop her constant scratching and licking. We’ve been giving it to her for a few years now and won’t switch it up. She loves it and her skin and coat look great!

Very fishy smell (dog hated the “Turkey & Oat Meal” flavor)

My dog used to eat the “Lamb & Oat Meal” flavor of this dog food no problem but over the last 6-ish months, each bag I’ve ordered has gotten fishier and fishier. It literally smells like fish food and makes her breath smell horrible. I recently purchased the “Turkey & Oat Meal” flavor and it’s just as fishy and our dog only eats a few bites and then walks away which isn’t like her at all.

    Vet recommended

My vet recommended 3 commercial dog food brands and one local “homemade” brand, saying that the 3 commercial dog food brands utilize dog nutrician dietitians to make sure they have all of the nutrition dogs need included in the food. Purina Pro Plan was the least expensive of the 3 brands, and she said most vets feed their own dogs this brand. I use the dry food mixed with wet food, and also use small amounts of it as treats when working on training my dog. She loves it and we love the sound of her crunching on the food! Since she is young and eats feral cat poop from the yard sometimes and gets an upset stomach, I appreciate the salmon “sensitive stomach” option.

Not the biggest Purina fan but this dog food works.

Im not the biggest Purina fan but this dog food works. I have a french bulldog and a boston terroir that both have skin condition and stomach issues when it comes to what they eat. After trying other more expensive and highly recommended dog foods that didnt work, I come across this one. Now it didnt cure their skin and stomach issues but it was such a noticeable difference that we’ll be sticking with this particular food for a long time.

    So far so good

I changed to this brand after my dog was having acid reflux issues with tomato pumice in other more expensive brands and thus far he’s been much better with this food. I was reluctant at first because I had used the more expensive brands for 13 years but this brand seems to calm the symptoms and he LOVES the flavor.

    My dog loves it!

I was advised by my Vet to start my puggle on this food due to allergies, skin and possible stomach issues, all related. I’ve slowly mixed it into her previous kibble and she’s gobbling it up. I think I see a change for the better in her already. More perky, less itchy, more relaxed. I’m hoping this food will work for my Chloe for a long time.

Great Food, But 2 Weeks Late.

My puppy Beanie loves it. Sure it smells fishy…it’s salmon flavor. It helps Beanie’s joints with the fish oils. So I get it a lot. This time it took two weeks when advertised 2 days. Probably because this is good dry food (Beanie’s lunch- she gets Cesar breakfast and dinner) it’s late or out of stock.Just let me know! I had to go to the Amazon app to see why it was so late!

Completely resolved Gizmo’s belly pain and diarrhea issues

6/11/2022 update: Gizmo is still doing great. No more pain attacks or diarrhea. He loves his food and looks great!5/1/2022 update: Gizmo’s belly pain and diarrhea issues are completely resolved. The vet had tried nearly everything. We found out that his prior brand of food, labeled as “beef,” contained poultry products/broth.I’m so grateful for this product formulation and for the tiny bites for small dogs (Gizmo is a rescue who only weighs 7lbs).***4/1/2022 So far, so good — Gizmo likes the taste and has no trouble chewing/gumming these. Some history: we started him on wet food last summer due to missing more teeth. He has had intermittent tummy troubles ever since. I know he’s allergic to poultry, and recently, I was so surprised to see how many wet foods have poultry listed somewhere in the ingredients.

One of the best special needs dog foods you can buy

I have a small Yorkie/Lhasa Apso medical alert service dog. I adopted her at 4 months of age and at the time she was severely ill and near death. She had stopped eating, was hypoglycemic, and only weighed a bit over two pounds. She also had an antibiotic-resistant form of pneumonia and was experiencing liver failure and other life-threatening conditions. With the help of an outstanding veterinarian and a great deal of care and attention on my part, she is now completely healthy and has recently completed nine months of professional service dog training.Because of her health issues, diet and nutrition have always been a major concern. In addition to her serious health issues, for the first year of her life she also suffered from dry dandruff and itchy skin and was prone to diarrhea. Although less serious, these were also problems I needed to address.Because of her early health issues I think she will always be a picky eater and I have to constantly monitor her food Intake. At 19 months, she is now fully grown and maintains a stable healthy weight of 5lbs.To address all of these issues, I went through a long journey of trying to find the best food and diet for her. The vet and I both suspected food allergies as part of her problem and began food trials, eliminating all of the meat proteins she had been eating, which were almost all of the common meats used in dog food with the exception of fish. We also wanted to avoid corn, wheat and soy but did not want a completely grain – free food. After a great deal of research, we settled on Purina Focus salmon and rice formula and it has been completely satisfactory. It meets all of our important criteria and, most importantly, she finds it palitable and eats it with minimal coaxing. She remains a picky eater and I still have to go to some extra effort to get her to eat but not much. Basically, I crumble up a salmon bite omega oil supplement as a topper on her food, which she loves, and that’s enough to prime her pump and get her to eat the rest of her food.I apologize for the length of my review but felt like it was important to discuss the special needs of my dog in order to fully explain why I chose this food over so many other high-quality dog foods that are available. Normally, Purina brand wouldn’t be my top choice but, with my special needs, it was definitely the right choice for my dog and I give it my highest recommendation.

This new packaging means no more probiotics in the dog food.

Our dog has eaten this brand since it was born. After I purchased this new black rebrand look, the dog kept throwing up. Did research and Purina, now owned by Nestle-a Swiss company, removed probiotics from their formulas. Now I add a probiotic to her food everyday and do NOT buy Purina products.

They love Pro Plan Shredded Chicken but I am introducing Pro Plan sensitive skin, salmon by gradually mixing. She picked out the other dog food piece by piece and scattered it all over the kitchen. I picked it up & put it back in her bowl.Every piece of the salmon flavored food was ate. So I was happy to find this flavor on Amazon again. Our vet says pro food is one of the healthiest foods we can feed our dog.

This Food Literally Helped Solve Spanky’s Problems !!! Amazed!!

I’ll save you some time ☺️ I ALREADY researched EVERY FACT regarding great dog nutrition , sensitivity to foods , recommended diets for small dogs by my vet . My little guy was treated for ” allergies ” and then for ?? , a pre, and probiotic pill was added by the vet along with prevacid DAILY to control Spankys daily bouts of nausea with vomiting 🤮…my poor dog , right ? Anyway , after studying I learned a lot !!! I personally decided to go with this food because it has perfect balance of ingredients PLUS PROBIOTICS , PREBIOTICS AND THEY ARE LIVE ONES , FOR GUT HEALTH !!! I tested it on Spanky . He is REALLYPICKY about his food . Too stinky ? He won’t eat it ….too Whatever , he won’t either ! This food is VERY SMALL KIBBLE ! YAY !!! Spanky McLovin ate perfectly fine right away with a moderate transition from old diet ( Nat balance .) …I ceased ALL additional probiotics ( 30-40.00 / month ) , I ceased the over counter drug too because my dog has NO MORE NAUSEA , NO VOMITING AT ALL !!!He loves it !!! I do too 😂 I also thought Spankys pinkish/ red legs , feet and belly were an allergy we just had to accept … nothing helped …THIS FOOD HELPED !!! SPANKYS COAT AND SKIN ARE PERFECT NOW ! IVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT !!!! Definitely 🥰 a great purchase , price , and really happy I bought it. Regular purchase from now on ..
