Protect your puppy’s health with the specialized nutrition formulated for his first year of life in Purina Pro Plan Puppy Sensitive Skin and Stomach Salmon and Rice Formula dry puppy food. Every high-quality ingredient in this sensitive skin and stomach dog food is carefully chosen for a specific nutritional or functional purpose. The high protein puppy food formula is formulated with salmon as the first ingredient and rice, which is gentle on his sensitive stomach. Sunflower oil and vitamin A support your puppy’s healthy skin and coat, while DHA, from omega-rich fish oil, nourishes his brain and vision development. Live probiotics in our puppy kibble support digestive and immune health, and natural prebiotic fiber nourishes specific intestinal bacteria for digestive health. We make this puppy food with probiotics without artificial colors or flavors. Start your puppy out right by giving him the targeted, high-quality nutrition in Purina Pro Plan puppy food.

From the manufacturer

Purina ProPlan puppy food benefits

Using a standard 8 oz/250 ml measuring cup which contains approximately 112 g of Pro Plan. Puppies start to nibble solid foods at 3 – 4 weeks of age. Keep moistened Pro Plan available at all times. Allow your puppy to eat at will until fully weaned (6 – 8 weeks). After weaning, Pro Plan can be fed moistened or dry. For best results, develop a regular feeding schedule such as three small meals a day for younger puppies. You can gradually reduce to one feeding in the morning and one in the evening as your puppy ages. The routine should not vary. As puppies near adulthood, their calorie needs may drop, and your puppy may begin leaving some food in the bowl. Don’t misinterpret this as an indication of dislike for the food. Instead, begin offering less so your puppy doesn’t overeat and stays in ideal body condition. Nestlé Purina Research indicates that avoiding overfeeding of puppies may help their development. Maintaining ideal body condition is key to encouraging proper growth in all puppies, especially large breeds. The indicated amounts are only a guideline. If your puppy becomes overweight, a reduction of your puppy’s daily food intake may be appropriate. You may wish to consult your veterinarian about a weight control program.

FEEDING FOR REPRODUCTION Pro Plan provides the extra nutrition needed by reproducing females in stages of gestation and lactation. Food consumption may vary during gestation, so feed the amount needed to maintain the pregnant female’s ideal body condition. Food intake may double or even quadruple during lactation.

MAKING THE SWITCH TO PRO PLAN Although you’ll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow 7 – 10 days to ease the transition from your dog’s current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you’re feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets. Contains a source of live (viable) naturally occurring microorganisms. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. For your pet’s health, see your veterinarian regularly.

    Amazing dog food!!

We tried so many different puppy foods and we were so desperate to find one that didn’t make our poor puppy have diarrhea every day. FINALLY… I read other review and gave this one a shot. It’s been three months now and she has had solid poops and loves the taste of it more than any others we tried! Have purchased two other bags since then!!!

    Excellent Dog food

We have used the adult version for years so when we got a new puppy we tried the puppy version. Puppy loves the food and is doing great. Not the cheapest for sure but is excellent dog food.

My puppy absolutely loves Purina Pro Plan!!

My 4 month old mini Cavapoo absolutely loves Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach Puppy Food w/ Probiotics Lamb and Oat Meal Formular. Since I got him 2 months ago I’ve tried several different high end puppy foods including Hills Science Diet Puppy and Blue Buffalo Puppy mixed with matching wet food. My pup would only eat a few bites and walk away. Most days he would throw up from having an empty stomach. I was getting desparate. My vet highly recommended feeding him Purina Pro Plan…its what she feeds her dogs. It was a hugh hit from the first bite. He eats everything in his bowl! No more vomitting!!!! And he’s finally gaining weight! My pup and I thank you so much!!!!!

We switched my puppy and are happy

Due to the expense of Iams we went to Blue Buffalo thinking it was a premium protein product, it caused a ton of gastric events, and we didn’t understand why. Our Vet then switched our pup to this brand. No more events and a super happy pup.

    Made Our Puppy Extremely Ill

Our 18-month old puppy has been on Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach Dog Food Puppy Salmon and Rice Formula since he was 12-weeks old. On May 12, 2024, we opened a new bag. Immediately, our dog began vomiting after meals. We suspected that the new bag of dog food might be the culprit but couldn’t be certain without ruling out other causes. After three days of vomiting, we were able to see our vet (to the tune of $500) who could not find any reasonable explanation as to why our dog was sick. Our dog was prescribed a diet of rice and boiled chicken for three days and then we were told to add in regular dog food. We started our dog on a different brand entirely and we have not had any further issues with vomiting. Our vet is not ruling out a contaminated bag of dog food, especially considering how this all started with a new bag and stopped after switching food. I am so insanely angry about having a sick dog along the pricey vet bill as a result. BUYER BEWARE!

    Mehhhh..

My dog eats this food but doesn’t really like it. When I’m done with this bag I’m going to find an alternative..it also gives him gas. He immediately starts burping and passing gas after his feeding. And I use a slow feeder.

Great for Puppies with Sensitive Stomachs

Our puppy had some issues with Hill’s Science diet so we switched to this and it had her stomach back in shape after a few months. Great product and highly recommend the salmon as the best for sensitive stomachs.

    Very gentle on puppy’s tummy

Can’t talk about flavor obviously, but based on my 2 puppies behaviors this food is amazing. I add few toppings and my doodles seem as happy as they can be. Tried other food flavors and other brands. This is by far the best!

    Pup is happy and healthy

My Pup, Louie, has been having digestion issues since I’ve gotten him; there were 3 different foods I tried and none of them worked to help Louie have solid and regular stools. I was recommended this food for its digestion benefits and thought I’d give it a try…. And I haven’t turned back ever since! It worked within a matter of two days and I can tell Louie is happier with having a regular bathroom schedule.

Picky Pitbull taste and skin approved

Our 6 month old Pitbull puppy had been eating Blue Buffalo puppy and not only had she had itchy skin and rashes but she wasn’t too enthusiastic about eating it. After trying other alternatives for her skin, I finally decided to try a non-poultry protein based puppy food. Not only does she love this so far, but her skin is looking better and she almost never scratches! It’s only been a couple of days, but looking forward to her healing and hopefully continuing to love the food!

Vet recommended. Wish I researched more.

First time dog owner. Vet recommended this. Dog ate PPP for 17 months. Researched dog food and wished I had done it much sooner. I’ve stopped all kibble and am now feeding him fresh food following recipes by vet nutritionists. Documentary Pet Fooled was eye opening.

My two Frenchie babies have sensitivities to certain ingredients, so when we found this food I was so relieved! They love the taste, the kibble is small enough so they can eat it easily, and the ingredients in this food are fantastic. 100% recommend!

    My puppy loves it

My golden retriever was constantly having stomach issues with a chicken recipe. Ever since I changed him to sensitive stomach lamb flavor he’s been fine. We’ve tried the salmon flavor too but it had a very strong scent and he got sick of it quickly. Since this one is a bit more neutral, it’s easier to blend with toppings, veggies and fish oil when I want to give him something different.I usually have a hard time getting it at pet stores because they’re always running out of it, so I’m very happy to find it on Amazon and get it delivered quickly

    Best sensitive puppy food!

We got a mini Aussie puppy and originally had him on a different brand that the breeder started him on. At around 10-11 weeks old he started losing weird patches of hair and kept getting gunky eyes. He started showing aversion to his food so I talked to the vet and she recommended this food. After a few weeks, his bald spots are filling in, he LOVES his food and was kind of picky before. His eye gunk has cleared up a bit but he has environmental allergies that still get the best of him. We have been so happy with this food though!

    I believe in Pro Plan

My Dogo Argentino puppy has been having some allergic reactions, so my vet recommended Pro Plan Salmon. Now, he has been on the Pro Plan puppy from day one. I started him on the chicken based formula, he eats it, but we need to add something extra for him to really devour it. Got this in today, so I put a bit in his bowl even though he’s already had his morning feeding. Well, he ate it like it was candy. Seems to reallyIke the Salmon. This should really help his skin allergy. I’ll do a follow up about whether it helps and if he continues to like it or is it just because it’s new.I have much faith in Pro Plan, my last dog, a Chocolate Lab, lived to be 14 and hunted very hard for 10 of those 14 years. Hw was fed Pro Plan his entire life.

This has become the favorite for my .

It passed the first test which is “ Will my picky eaters eat it“. and the second test, “will they throw it up ”?I free feed them and was using a couple of other dog foods too. Once I offered this it is the only one that they would eat of the three. They were throwing up quite a bit on the others, and now they don’t throw up at all. The kibbles are very tiny which makes it easy for my little six pounders to chew. I am going to order it regularly, and if you subscribe it is a little bit cheaper.

    Great taste!!!

I gave this product five stars for the flavor for obvious reasons. Anyone who has tried the purina salmon knows what I’m talking about—world class dog food. I wouldn’t recommend eating it with a fork or knife however as it can get pretty messy. Best to just scarf it down the hatch as fast possible. Don’t even think about it. You may experience immediate hunger after eating a cup of this. Just something to watch out for, since many of you like me are on a restrictive diet.

    Made my puppy sick

A couple days after trying to slowly transition my 7 month old pit mix puppy onto this food she’s having explosive diarrhea and vomiting. She has constant supervision so unless she somehow sneakily ate something she shouldn’t have, I think this food made my puppy sick.

QA needs to watch the packaging better!!

The product is great, it’s the shipping that definitely needs improvement. It was sloppily taped and could have easily broke through damaging my order. The delivery drive could have taken a better picture of just how badly taped the box.

Good quality food for the price and options

Good food for dog at a good price. I have a giant golden retriever puppy. He’s 95 lbs at 8 months old. Before starting him on the large breed puppy food, he was growing so fast to the point it seemed to cause him discomfort. As a golden, he’s also really prone to ear infections and allergies. I tried switching his food to royal canin golden retriever puppy, and he was itching so much I thought he had fleas. Switched back to this food, no more itching and his ears look better. This food is like 50.00 cheaper, and offers salmon/lamb only plus regular and large breed options. My dogs love the flavor and their coats look shiny and healthy on this food. I haven’t had any issues with quality. It’s always consistent and provides consistent results.

    Sensitive stomach dog food

My 9 month old rescue puppy has a very, very sensitive stomach. We have tried many name brand dog foods and have ended up at the vet time and time again. Finally, a coworker of mine recommended this dog food and it has been a total game changer for my pup! Not only can his stomach tolerate it, but he also goes crazy to eat it! I highly recommend this dog food for any pups with sensitive stomachs 🐕

    Important for Bulldog Owners

Please note that lamb is very rich and often puppies will vomit the lamb because their GI system isn’t mature enough to digest lamb. Bulldogs are blamed for having allergies to basically everything but this is at least one instance where that may not be the case. So please if your bulldog puppy has vomited lamb, even if it’s every single time, do not swear off lamb completely. By all means stop the lamb but please try again around 18-24 months. Lamb has done wonders for mine, and btw they can’t have lamb & rice, it has to be lamb & oats, because they’re sensitive to rice. So the combo is an important factor when choosing the protein. If you do have a severely food allergic bulldog, avoid feathers, hooves, & fins… so you’ll need kangaroo, alligator, or rabbit. The allergy tests will show allergic for every ingredient your dog has ever ingested, allergic or not, because with every ingredient, your dogs body has made an immune response for it, this is why vets don’t like the tests. Also, all the puppy formulas of all the brands I’ve tried with mine (5 different companies) made them soooo yeasty… but soon as they were old enough for adult formulations the yeast cleared. I do not have science or studies to back up this claim, but if you consider that all the owners of adult bulldogs are telling you in the groups on social media that their bulldog is fine and they only swipe with a baby wipe once a day, and here you are struggling with you puppy’s yeast and doing all you can think of to no avail… perhaps the difference does in fact reside in the formulation differences. You may be thinking that the age difference is what made the difference, that their immune system matures and wards off the yeast, but nope, because I put this to the test as I had to put my female back on this puppy formulation during the last trimester of her pregnancy & her lactation period and lo & behold all the yeast came right back and I mean it was back with a vengeance within 36 hours, and what’s more, soon as she was able to come off the puppy version and start back on the adult version, all that yeast cleared, took 4 days to go away, but it just vanished. Do not switch to adult until your puppy is grown, unless your vet tells you it’s ok, (because they truly need it for proper growth), even if the side effect is yeast that drives you crazy. Also note the Purina is having a probiotic shortage so they’ve removed the probiotics from their kibble, which is annoying AF, but you should be giving a probiotic supplement anyways so it may not have any affect on your bulldog, but I see other breeds struggling with potty time after the change. And, if you see a puppy/dog trying to actually eat things that aren’t food at all, rocks, gravel, dirt, rabbit droppings, grass, weeds, etc, especially if your puppy/dog isn’t taking a probiotic supplement already, this is usually because their kibble has upset the gut bacteria and they are trying to eat other stuff to balance their gut, it’s instinctual, so try adding a probiotic and if your puppy/dog stops trying to eat non-food items, you’ll know to keep them on it. I only like the Purina forti flora and 2 others but I’m unsure if I’m allowed to list because they have a different manufacturer. Please give your dogs omega-3, kibble has omega-6, the 6 acts as an inflammatory, but the 3 that they’re actually deficient in, acts as an anti-inflammatory that will counteract the 6 effect. Also, soft & shiny coats with 3, plus it strengthens their skin barrier and helps to ward off bacteria and yeast. If you try something I’ve mentioned here and it worked for yours, hit the “helpful” button to help others.Rating as a 2 because they removed the probiotics, its yeasty, and my girl prefers the adult versions taste over this one. Also annoyed by the price increase and sad that the lamb doesn’t come in the biggest bag like the salmon does.Just some “Free Game” for everyone, look at me, out here trying to better all the breeds, cross breeds, & non-breeds.Give your dogs some loves for me 🙂

God send for pup with extra sensitive tummy

Update: Ended up having to complete switch to a completely chicken free diet BUT still think this food is great for most dogs mine is just extra sensitive 😅GODSEND! We own an almost 1 year old Vizsla and if you know anything about the breed they are amazing BUT they tend to have sensitive stomachs. Our boy has had tummy troubles since he was a baby. He’s healthy otherwise but it has been HELL getting his gut in check. He doesn’t do well with chicken and most puppy foods use chicken as the main protein so I was glad to see they have salmon and lamb option as well as an oat option as it is so much easier on the gut PLUS it has pro and I think pre biotics as well. I’m going to say based on opinion only that the ingredients are of good quality but obviously I haven’t tested all their ingredients I just know that it’s the only food so far that doesn’t make our gut have diarrhea and actually helps him have normal bms even when he happens to eat something that flares him up this food quickly helps get him back to normal.

Great for sensitive bellies – but fishy side effects!

Our pup is a parvo survivor and this was the first food that finally seemed to help her tummy stabilize after recovery. However, she smells like fish now! It’s like her skin, when she sweats on walks she comes back and just stinks of fish. We love her anyway, fishy stink and all, and will keep her on this food until she’s an adult.

    Great quality

So far this is the only thing my puppy has been able to tolerate. She is so much better since starting this brand of puppy food. Shipping was quick and price is more than reasonable. Will continue to order

    Amazon sold spoiled dog food

My puppy has been eating this brand and specific type of food (salmon with rice) for about 5 months and always loved it. He has a sensitive stomach and it was wonderful.HOWEVER- given that our local PetSmart didn’t have it, I bought it off of Amazon and it made him sick with diarrhea. He started rejecting the food as well, which he never did before. And the bag was NOT expired- the date was for 2025. The vet prescribed him with medication and gastrointestinal specific food and be got better. But when we transitioned back to this bag, he got sick again. We went back to giving him the gastro food and he got better, so we realized it was the bag.We ordered the same kind from Chewy- Purina Pro Plan salmon & rice and it’s been great. He didn’t reject it like the other bag and his stool has gotten better. I already filed an executive complaint with Amazon and called Purina to let them know. It’s not Purina’s fault but Amazon’s for selling spoiled food. Perhaps from temperature changes sitting in the warehouse. So I advise everyone to NOT purchase dog food from Amazon as I do not want someone else’s dog getting sick.

Works great for our puppy’s sensitive stomach!

Our 5 month old golden retriever puppy seems to have a very sensitive stomach. He had diarrhea quite often until we started using this food. We noticed a change in the first few days of transitioning him and we couldn’t be happier. Great product!
