Directions

Using a standard 8 oz/250 ml measuring cup which contains approximately 103 g of Pro Plan. We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow your dog to become overweight. The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment. But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily. MAKING THE SWITCH TO PRO PLAN Although you'll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow 7 – 10 days to ease the transition from your dog's current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. For your pet's health, see your veterinarian regularly. This product is not intended to diagnose, cure, or prevent disease.

My dog absolutely LOVES this kibble. Our dog was a rescue and when she was found she had no teeth whatsoever. This kibble is small enough for her to eat and she actually prefers it over canned food

Seems to still be my dog’s favorite food

While I am unsure on the flavor profile of this food , I do find my dog enjoying it each and every time it hits his bowl. He doesn’t have any side effects that we have seen over the years he has enjoyed this brand and flavor profile but I will say that the smell of it can be a slight turn off for humans.

Seems to have helped my dog’s stomach (in conjunction with a probiotic)

My 9 lb chihuahua mix rescue has a sensitive tummy with a lot of diarrhea. I switched him to this food and added a probiotic to his diet, and the combination of both seem to have helped. He doesn’t go crazy for it and he’d probably always prefer table scraps but he seems perfectly happy eating it. I add a little bit of freeze dried beef liver, freeze dried turkey, and/or freeze dried chicken kibble to the top of his food. Overall I’d definitely recommend giving this a shot if you’re looking for an affordable sensitive stomach formula!

    DANGEROUS – DO NOT BUY

Bottom line – Don’t purchase this. It is not high quality and Purina is not being straightforward in regard to the formulation. I tried to Google in 2020 when we were having issues with the food. I recently had a reason to Google it again and there are numerous complaints – enough for a New York Times article. I don’t care about the “conspiracy theory”. This is an honest review from a real, responsible pet owner about one dog (who I love very much) and her response to the food.I used this dog food between 2018 and 2022 before and after its reformulation. Between 2018-2022 the food was high quality and smelled like salmon. After the reformulation, my poodle had a very hard time readapting to it and had severe diarrhea. Even more concerning she started to have urination problems (leaky) and grew masses near her eye, tail and leg. We started to cook our own dog food because of the issues and guess what? All the problems went away. While the health issues were disconcerting enough, the response from Purina was even more startling. I asked if the ingredients were being sourced from different vendors and countries; I asked why it didn’t smell like salmon anymore; I asked what specifically changed in the nutrient content in their recipe. None of this was answered. All I received was a reply that “we add probiotics, not much has changed.” This is an unacceptable response. I have filed a complaint with the FDA.There are so many options out there and bad health can cost you so much more than quality food. Don’t reward Purina who only wants to make a buck at the expense of your dogs health and give you no answers to basic questions. You and your pet deserve better.

Great product for our dog but the cost has more than doubled and now we’re exploring other options

This product has worked great for our young dog. Unfortunately the cost has doubled or worse in the last 12-24 months and we’re exploring other options. The price has been ridiculous and I’m hoping there is a comparable quality at a better price. At this point it’s actually cheaper to buy in our local pet store than it is here on Amazon which is kind of backwards in most cases. We have a 90lb dog and these 35lb bags don’t even get us a full month of feeding her. With the outrageous increase in cost of this food her food bill is almost 1/2 what we spend on groceries for us humans.

This food has improved his health!

Someone threw Chewy out by our farm in 2021. He was covered in ticks and even had them on his tongue. He had a bad limp and mats all over his coat. Much care a few vet visits and he was on his way to full recovery. I feed him Pedegree dry food like I had always feed my dogs and for a while I didn’t notice a problem Within the past 2 months Chewy had repeatedly ate grass and vomited a few times. He was also scratching himself more than normal. I did some research and then bought this food. It has made more of a difference in him than I was looking for. He has stopped eating grass and no upset stomach or scratching but the most noticeable difference is the gloss and shine of his fur!! The vet said he is part Chow and part Australian Shepherd so he has the fur coat that is a mix of both. It absolutely shines and is so very soft. His energy level to run and work with us on the farm has also increased. I recommend you give it a try if your dog is having stomach issues.

I usually buy the salmon Purina proplan for my golden. Im satisfied with that flavor. This lamb n oats concerned me due to was rather powdery consistancy. I immediately checked dates. Still good date. I stopped after a couple days, just bothered me.

    Helped out our dog

We had an issue with our rottweiler having soft stools. We initially were on diamond then switched to the standard pro plan and finally this blend. This one seems to have done the trick! She has been eating it for about a month now and is doing much better and seems to enjoy it more too. It is more expensive than the standard pro plan but worth it if your pup has a sensitive tummy. We found that it was cheaper on Amazon than Chewy as well!

Helps my Sensitive Dogs but it does smell bad

I have a Boston Terrier with a very finicky tummy. I was having issues for years trying to find the right food. This stuff helped A LOT. She is regular now and it has reduced her farting quite a bit. I was also really happy to find a small breed mix so I could also feed it to my other dog.I have a few complaints. The first is that you can’t find the small breed mix in many places. It is often out of stock at the pet stores around me. The second is that the food does have a fishy smell to it. It is salmon flavored after all. My dogs breath is fishy too. I don’t mind it much anymore and have gotten use to the smell. The biggest complaint is with the price. I think it is priced to high

Highly Recommend > Stop Harmful Grain Free Food

At a recent veterinarian appointment for my 8 year old Mini Australian Shepherds the doctor made me aware that the grain free diet I was currently using had been linked to heart disease & heart failure. I was shocked. My dog is my entire world & I thought the expensive food I had been choosing was the best for her. The veterinarian, despite being busy in the midst of the pandemic, sat on a video consult with me after they brought my dog back to the car. She elaborated by walking me through the extensive various studies, the heart condition itself which is called canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). She explained that grain-free pet foods rely on lentils, peas, and potatoes to replace grain. They lack a key ingredient dogs require, taurine which is an amino acid used in the production of protein. The lack of this taurine is what the studies have shown increases the risk of your dog developing DCM, even in breeds not prone to heart disease. She recommended I made the transition to Purina Pro Plan Adult Sensitive Skin & Stomach Salmon & Rice Formula since it has Salmon as the first ingredient, in addition to omega fatty acids which aide in for joint health and mobility – especially important now that my dog is 8 & considered a senior. It also does NOT include corn, wheat or soy, and without poultry by-product meal.I made the transition in April & my dog has her energy back. She’s truly got a pep in her step back. I haven’t changed anything besides her food & credit this switch. When it comes to dog food you don’t always get what you pay for & I learned that the scary way. I hope that the years I fed her grain free doesn’t negatively impact her in the future & I’m just blessed that the vet took the extra time to discuss all of her daily rituals to find this mistake so I could fix it.I highly recommend this product, especially to anyone who’s currently feeding their pup a grain free diet!

Miracle dog food for a two year battle with serious skin. Thank You Purina Pro Plan Focus!!!

I don’t normally write a lot of reviews, but for this product, I felt I needed to make an exception. When I explain why I am so happy with this product, I think anyone who loves their dog will understand. I currently have three dogs in my home. Two of them belong to my husband and me and the third is a 14-15 year old foster named Frankie. We have had Frankie for over two years now. At this point we are convinced he is with us to stay. Frankie’s story is sad. He had been found on the side of a busy road bloody and broken. I went to where he was being cared for, to foster another dog, and when I saw Frankie, I had to take him too. The other dog was adopted a week later and Frankie has been here since. Frankie is a Pekingese. I am convinced that someone must have poured something over his back. He is completely bald on his back and neck. Unfortunately he has the worst skin I have ever seen on a dog. For the past two years we have been to two different vet offices. We’ve tried numerous treatments (holistic as well as prescription). We’ve tried different oils, creams, and shampoos. This poor little guy was getting three baths a week because of the blood and scales that constantly formed on his body. I was almost ready to just give up and accept that there was nothing that could be done for this poor dog. All I could do is try to keep him as comfortable as possible. Now, for the happy ending… I just happened to find this Pro Plan Focus on Amazon. I wasn’t sure if it would work, but, I decided to go ahead and give it a try. Frankie has been on this new food for about a month now and the results are absolutely amazing. We are down to giving Frankie only one bath a week now and his skin is looking absolutely fantastic! I know he will never grow hair on his back or neck (I make him wear a shirt at all times just to keep his skin protected), but, I am amazed that the scales have not formed anymore and there is no more bleeding. He has even started to act like a dog for the first time since we have had him in our home. He actually runs and plays. For the entire time he has been in our home his activity level has been blinking. Thank You Purina Pro Plan Focus for this amazing miracle food. Our other dogs have always eaten Purina Pro Plan. I wish the Focus was in our stores. I will just have to keep getting it through Amazon.

    Great dog food

I have fed my dogs Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin Salmon for over 10 years, both for small and large dogs. My large dog actually likes the one for small dogs better for some reason. The price has gone way up and the 16 lb bag now costs what the 30 lb bag cost a couple of years ago. But everything has gone up, so I guess that is to be expected. Will keep buying thought because I believe it’s a healthy dog food.

    The Results Are In

Background info…In Summer 2018, I was researching dog food brands for a puppy I’d be getting in July. Previously, I had used Purina for all the dogs I’d had since 1979. In 2014, while taking care of my son’s beautiful Lab, I was given BLUE BUFFALO Wilderness. By Thanksgiving 2014, the dog was acting sickly, throwing up, etc. We changed to another bag that my son had left with us, and still, the same reaction. We took the dog to the vet, and nothing was found to be the source of the lethargy, etc. Long story short, I documented everything that happened from Nov-Jan 2015. The dog died in mid January. We even paid for a necropsy. The only abnormality was a touch of a chemical found in mothballs. No, we didn’t have any in our home or around plants, etc in the yard. ConsumerAffairs had a boatload of complaints against the company. In 2018, when reading info about various brands of dog food, I was pleased to see that Purina, the brand I had used for nearly 40 yrs, met the standards. I have used Purina Pro FOCUS for puppies, and now, Adult formula. My dog is an Australian Labradoodle. The breed has the long ears, so I have avoided the ‘chicken’ flavor, as vets have commented that a diet of chicken can cause yeast infections in the dogs’ ears. Purina Pro Focus all the way!M. Not bad.

Not sure how it tastes, so you’ll have to take our dogs word for it. We have 2 toy poodles. Vet put them on the Skin and Allergy Pro dog food 2 months ago. I bought this product when the bag of the Pro food was almost gone. The dogs like it and after a month of use, they haven’t had the issues they were previously having before starting them on the Pro version.

Helps When my dog has Stomach Problems

I bought this because my Siberian husky eats anything and everything and always has stomach problems. I purchased a prescription bag from the vet and it was so expensive and she seemed to be going through it fast. I could not fathom once again paying almost $90 for a bag of food my dog hated and I had to force her to eat. I thought maybe I would try this since she eats Purina Pro Plan Performance 30/20. She hates this too. I have to force her to eat it. I am guessing it’s because she is a husky and is boujie. We went through I dont know how many flavors of food until we found one she will actually eat.The only reason for 4 stars is because she hates it and won’t eat it so I am now out $20.

Does exactly what it supposed to. Great results the first 30 days .

My dog had staining and loss of fur from an allergy in his old food. So I switched him about a month ago. And I can see the changes already. His energy level and his temperament are pretty much the same. However, his fur is being restored to its original color. He used to have staining and streaks in his face. And on the white part of his legs. As well as a loss of fur on his stomach. It’s only been 30 days and his stains are almost all gone, and the hair on his stomach has returned. For years, I was into boutique type foods, thinking I was getting him the best. I can honestly say I was mistaken. Do not fear a big conglomerate making food as long as they don’t change the recipe. Well done Purina !

    So far so good

Product was delivered fine. I’m switching my girl off Turkey/Venison Purina One because of some stress colitis issues and I’m trying to keep things more basic and her vet recommended this, she said it’s what her dogs eat. Well so far I can’t speak on the benefits as we are just switching today but I added a small portion to her regular food to transition and she picked the old kibble out of her bowl and totally ignored it. We have a wild mini schnauzer mix that will eat any food around so it’s clear which she prefers taste wise. Happy with the purchase so far and we all got a nice giggle watching her toss the old junky food aside. So far it’s an A+!!

This is the best for chronic bowel and skin

Our vet recommends Proplan for all our crew, and this particular food has helped tremendously with our boxer’s inflammatory bowel disease and skin allergy. She has mast cell tumor also, which adds to skin and bowel burden. We have tried multiple foods including prescription diets including but nothing has really helped to keep her normal, healthy, and energetic. She’s older now, and over the past year and a half there have been a couple scary spells with her digestive system health. But she’s back on track with this food- in particular the turkey and oatmeal and we couldn’t be happier. As an added bonus our senior Dachshund has always had borderline constipation despite food choice, and since she’s been eating this same food she has had perfectly normal, sufficient bowel movements. 100% satisfied.

Somethings wrong … quality control? … handling? … IDK

This is supposed to be a quality, NOT inexpensive, dog food and I have had a 24lb bag on subscription order each month for the past 5 months. I keep the bag in a large sealed plastic bin in the house.Unfortunately, with the last 2 orders there seems to be either a quality control problem or a handling problem. There is an unusual amount (40/60) of food “dust” from crumbled kibble and the remaining kibble looks “loose”.I thought the first time was just a handling issue but the latest order is worse. The dogs will still eat it but slowly and they are usually very excited about their feedings. At $74/bag, I refuse to pay for “kibble dust”. I am canceling my subscription and will buy from local pet food store from now on.I can not recommend this supplier any longer.

My dogs love the Purina pro plan food but we sadly discovered that even though being labeled otherwise it DOES have chicken in it. Since one of our 5 dogs has a chicken allergy we decided to try this bag- food sensitivity. We introduced it as directed by our Vet allergist and our dogs all refuse to eat it after trying it out.

The number one food intolerance for dogs is CHICKEN!

Gundei had chronic ear infections. We got a new vet at the clinic that told us that the number one food intolerance for dogs is CHICKEN! We have gone through one bag and it seems to be the cure. Now I am wondering what the grandkids are eating? Allergies are respiratory, food intolerances are tissue. Chicken is the main ingredient in a lot of dog foods and treats. This vet doesn’t like legume feed either. She says heart value troubles are suddenly a dog problem since pea protein has become an ingredient in dog food. The other dog will be switched to Purina just to be safe. They are the experts in animal feed.

Even the cat fights to get some!

The dogs were tiring of the usual dry food we mix with their wet food at night and were leaving all of those little black pellets all over the floor. We got tired of sweeping them up plus those black pellets were the vitamins and good stuff for the dogs. well, if they were not eating the healthy part, that defeated the purpose. I looked around on the interwebs and found this. It sounded good to me and since the dogs also love fish I thought it would be good for them. They also get wet food, but I worry about too much salmon for them. That is my only concern. That and the dogs having to soo the cat away instead of the opposite situation. 🙂

    Good value and works

This works and my dog doesn’t actually hate it! I have a very spoiled 7 lb chihuahua who has bouts of stress-induced IBS. (Took me years to figure out- thought was everything from cancer to a liver shunt). I spent years trying everything to help her- from $50/bag imported organic raw freeze dried dog food to home cooking organic chicken rice and veggies everyday. I would’ve never dreamt of feeding her a Purina brand (snob) kibble, but came across some good reviews on dog IBS/IBD chat rooms, and I wanted something dry if even just for travel when can’t cook for her. This has worked great and she will actually eat it- it never upsets her stomach and seems to have helped her itching as well. Works as good as $$$ hypoallergenic brands. I will say that Dont switch formulas once you’ve started and it works- tried the same version but in a “small dog” kibble, and it wasn’t the same and she had itchiness reaction.I still feed her plenty of human food “treats, but there’s always a scoop of this in her bowl, and she actually eats it/ which is a miracle in itself as she hates dog food usually. (The pic is her eating homemade food w organic boiled chicken and vegetables, where she spit out all the vegetables… she’s picky, I tell ya!). This is a good product and unbelievable value in comparison

    Perfect for frequently vomiting dogs

I recently switched my dog’s food to Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach Dog Food, and I am extremely pleased with the results. My dog has always had sensitive skin and a sensitive stomach, and this particular formula has made a noticeable difference in his overall health and well-being. The turkey and oatmeal combination not only provides a delicious taste, but it also helps to soothe his skin and promote healthy digestion. One of the standout features of this dog food is the addition of probiotics. These beneficial bacteria aid in digestion and help to maintain a healthy gut flora, which is crucial for dogs with sensitive stomachs. I have noticed a significant decrease in his digestive issues since switching to this formula. His stools are firmer and he no longer experiences frequent bouts of indigestion or upset stomach.Furthermore, the high-quality ingredients in this dog food are impressive. The real turkey is a great source of lean protein, which supports muscle development and overall health. The oatmeal provides essential carbohydrates for energy, and it is gentle on the stomach. Additionally, this formula is free from artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives, ensuring that my dog is getting a nutritious and wholesome meal.Overall, I highly recommend Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach Dog Food with Probiotics. It has made a noticeable difference in my dog’s health and vitality. The combination of high-quality ingredients, probiotics, and gentle formula make it a fantastic choice for dogs with sensitive skin and stomachs. I will continue to feed my dog this formula and I am confident in its ability to keep him happy and healthy.

Finally a Dog Food that my German Shepherd can tolerate.

As a pet owner who wants the best for my dogs, I recently switched to Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Stomach and Stomach Large Breed Dog Food in the salmon formula. I have two German Shepherds with sensitive stomachs and I am very impressed with the results. The food is very easy to digest and does not cause any digestive issues for my dogs. The salmon formula is also very high in protein and my dogs love the taste. I appreciate that the formula is made with high-quality ingredients and does not contain any artificial colors or flavors. One of the things I appreciate about this dog food is that it is specifically designed for large breed dogs with sensitive stomachs. The kibble is larger in size, which helps to promote healthy chewing and digestion. The formula also contains prebiotic fiber, which helps to support digestive health. The food also provides good value for the cost. The bag is larger than many other dog food brands, and a little bit goes a long way, so it lasts for several feedings.Overall, I am very satisfied with Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Stomach and Stomach Large Breed Dog Food in the salmon formula. It is a high-quality and reliable dog food that has greatly improved my dogs’ overall health and wellbeing. If you have large breed dogs with sensitive stomachs, I would highly recommend giving this product a try.

    Good product

Good product, a bit pricy though, but aren’t all dog foods now a days ?? It works relatively well for my dog with IBD. She doesn’t always like the flavor that much, but it is better for her stomach than most, so I am sticking with it for now.

Finally a Food That Works for GSD with EPI!

I’ve been feeding this to my 5 year old, 65-lb German Shepherd with EPI for about 6 months now so I think it’s safe to say it’s a winner. Because of his condition, it’s been a challenge to find a food that truly works for his extra-sensitive digestive system. He had been doing well on the Purina Beyond Lamb for a long while until it was no longer available so I tried to switch to this “sensitive stomach” type in the Salmon flavor. That was a no-go and set his poor tummy on a setback. Thankfully, this version exists because he’s been doing fantastic on it.He loves the flavor of this and is always excited for mealtime. I’ve never had an issue with quality or freshness in any bag I’ve ordered. I just wish it came in a larger size. The 24 lb lasts us roughly 1 month on 4 cups per day. The feeding instructions for his size suggests 3 cups or less but I found that is not enough to keep him at a healthy weight or satisfy his hunger as an active working dog, so I give him 4 cups.

    My dog loves this!

My dog loves this food! I had just transitioned her to this new kibble with this 4 lb bag. Then when I wanted to order the larger size bag, it was unavailable!! Why?? I can’t find it even in our local store! So, I’m using the cans until it comes in. This is a problem! Even Amazon Prime can’t provide it in a reasonable time frame. It says 1-2 months! If this is the norm for Purina, I need to look for a new food!!

    Only food my dogs eat…!

My Labradoodle has been on this food since she was a puppy, so 5 years now with no problems. It’s the same price to have it Auto Delivered that it is to drive 16 miles to the pet store to get it, so we’re on Auto Delivery and it seems to be working well because we’re not panicked saying “We Need Dog Food!” I put a little warm water in with the kibble to make it softer and a ‘gravy’ of sorts…she inhales it!

    Small breed dog food

I usually buy this at a local pet store but unfortunately they were out of stock and had no idea when they would be receiving the next shipment. I not only received it the next day but saw that I saved a few dollars too.

    New formula ?

Since they changed the formula I’ve noticed my 5 German shepherds all have gas from the food . Is any one else’s dog experiencing this ?If it was just one of my dogs that would be one thing but it is all my dogs .
