A little bit too sturdy to fold on the side

Dog ate through bag- not sturdy, don’t waste your money

My dog ate through the zipper in the first trip. Not sturdy or stable. A complete waste of money.

    Nearly perfect

This is a fantastic carrier for people who frequently travel with their pets. It fits under most American (but not European) airline seats and buckles safely into a car. The safety tests are reassuring. The features are well thought out—a pocket to slip over a roller suitcase handle, a shoulder strap, zippered pockets for small necessities. There’s a tether for added security inside the carrier, and an added privacy panel for pets that like to hide. The whole thing folds down flat for storage. The materials are high quality and will last a lifetime. My chonker Kitty is 14lbs and is quite comfortable in the Sleepypod Air. I deducted a star because the materials on the bottom are not waterproof. The bottom pad is enclosed in a plush cover (my cat LOVES it) that can be washed, but the interior pads also contain a rigid board underneath and they can only be washed by hand. I wish these interior pads were waterproof, and also the base of the carrier itself. Because let’s face it: accidents happen with cats traveling in carriers. In my case, I took my kitty in for surgery where he had to stay overnight. The next day when we picked him up, the vet tech informed us that they had him in his carrier (God only knows how long 😕) and he peed in it. They didn’t attempt to clean it and the urine sat there all night long. Now I cannot get the odor out despite numerous attempts with enzyme cleaners; the urine soaked all the way into the stiff board and padding that I can’t access. If these pads and the base floor of the carrier were waterproof, this carrier would be literally PERFECT.

    Buying a second one.

I liked this bag so much that after the first one disappeared out of our garage (probably a dog or bear), I want another one!I read complaints about putting animals in the carrier but we set it up on one end, unzip just enough of the door to slide the dog in back feet first. We then have time to zip the doorclosed, quickly. We had the carrier for 5 years and it showed no wear.

Better options available for half the price

This carrier is a terrible value for the money. Sturdi Products makes a far better product for half the price.

Best carrier for cats… although a bit expensive.

This is the best carrier… period. But it is expensive, but if you love your pet and you have the extra money, you cant go wrong with it. It is spacious but can fit in most airplanes plus it is very convenient to use with all the features. One negative point is that my cat was able to open it when we reached the aparment, but apart from that… it was great.

    Worth it!

I have had my sleepypod air since 2019, it’s very durable, very sturdy and honestly the biggest carrier that it approved in cabin by airlines on the market, which is great for my 10kg Maine Coon. I’ve traveled long haul with my cat in it and I never had any problems, 3 years later the carrier is as good as new. Very easy to store since is fully collapsible. When it comes to comfort I wouldn’t give it 5 stars because I think there should be a opening at the top so the cat can sit up or stretch upwards while still enclosed sideways. You can kinda do that with this one but you have to unzip the whole mesh, which basically leaves the cat free because the sides and the top is all one piece. It it worth it tho, for both small and big cats!

    Worth every penny

Sleepypod Air is a great carrier. It is crash tested for safety and such high quality. Bentley is a 6 pound Maltese and has tons of room and loves his carrier. Fits great under the seat for air travel and is light and easy to carry. Would highly recommend. It’s pricey but worth it.

Great quality, but design needs tweaking.

I wanted to love this bag- the materials are high quality & it does fold away nicely for storage. However, My 12.5 lb dog likes to pop her head out & see what’s going on. I opened the end of the bag to let her look around but the flap folded up, INTO the animal’s space- this meant compressing her to the other end of the bag in order to swing the end in and attach itto the velcro stay inside, on the “roof”. I could overcome that, but the flap did not stay up- the velco was not sufficient so it kept falling on her. Additionally, the end-only opening meant that she had to be perilously at the edge of a precipice when riding atop my luggage & some squished toes because when on the floor. I tried unzipping the side, but it either fell open, spilling the dog out, or fell in, on her. I could not adjust the shoulder strap to be comfortable because the buckle cannot slide through the pad- it hung down, past my reach which meant I could not steady it as I walked. The length was good, the width was good, the height was low for the animal on the way to-from the plane, but fit properly under the seat. With some tweaks to the design so the end flaps folded to secure outside the bag, if the shoulder strap were a functional length or the parts integrated better, and if place my pet could pop her head out to sit upright as in most travel bags and, this bag would be worth every penny. My dog and I found it to be uncomfortable.

    Really great carrier!

I really like the color and design of this carrier. You can tell it was made with really great material and is very sturdy. I think this is a great carrier for small dogs and cats. I do love how safe my dog is in the car and I feel so much better about taking her in the car. My only issue is that my dog is a little bit too big for it, but once she gets comfy she likes it. But that has nothing to do with the carrier itself. Overall really good!

    The best pet travel bag!

Had to fly with my cats and we used 2 of those bags and they are amazing! One of my cat got nervous and had a little accident in the bag because it was a long travel day and it was super easy to clean. No pee smell in the bag. They are worth the price!

    Solid Carrier

Pet loves her carrier. It’s a cozy sleeping spot and I use it all the time for travel or just a side nap spot at home.

    Beautiful carrier

We tried 5 different carriers for my 25lb jack Russell and this one he loves. It feels like a good piece of luggage & has the ability to add a heating pad or cold pad inside the base.

Best in class for quality and comfort

Sturdy, wipes clean, thick material- very well made. This is the best quality carrier I have seen. Only drawback was I needed it for car travel and it did not have strap for attaching to headrest or seatbelt slots

Money well spent. Great quality carrier.

Well made product. The price reflects the quality. Perfect size for my bunny. It wasn’t difficult to get my bunny interested. I hope to use this soon for air travel after COVID restrictions are over. So far very impressed and fell that my pet will be very comfortable with this Sleepypod Air.

    Love the Safety testing, but…

I bought this carrier, because it passed the crash test. I was disappointed that it was extremely difficult to get my cat inside. You have to unzip the whole side to get the cat in. Then, she can get out before you zip up again. Sadly, this isn’t working for us.

    My kitties love it!

The kitties love this carrier. They climbed right in. We use it for vet visits as well as a cat bed in the home.

Really good quality material. Structured so it was easy to put my pet in.

Great quality and such a pretty color. Definitely meant for dogs/cats 17lbs >. My full grown 25lb frenchie fit but it was snug. Even with her weight the material and structure of the bag held nicely and I would comfortable carry her with those straps! Pictured is my nephew Finn who’s around 13 lbs and he loved it! Much better fit and extremely soft comfortable interior. Fit on my 22”carry on rolling suitcase securely and no problem. Would definitely bring on trip!

Great for moving cats to Hawaii

I purchased 4 of these carriers to move my 4 cats to Hawaii. We crate trained every night for about 3 months before the move starting with 5 minute intervals working up to 2 hours. The crate is very sturdy, one of our cats was 20 pounds and the other was 18 at the time of travel and the crate did not have issues with their weight or length. The only issue we really had was that one of cats would shove his head between the zippers and force them apart, this was fixed with a small clip to hold the zippers together. The crates ability to fit on top of a suitcase worked very well for us rolling through the airport. We flew Alaskan airlines to Hawaii and the crates fit well under the seat without having to roll up the sides, we slid them under so the mesh was towards us so we could monitor the cats better. For any possible accidents during the flight we used the fur dry liner, it helped to keep the crate clean and dry and made for quick easy changes. Overall wonderful product, we love them, our cats love them. It made a very stressful move so much easier, and had a place to store their food for when we landed while they stayed overnight in animal quarantine.

This is the best I found in the market

I love this bag, which I came about after trying 3 other bags! I bought this for my 15-mo maltipoo, who is about 8-9 lbs. It’s quite a bit of space for him. His lil’ brother, who is about 6 .5 lbs can fit snug together and still be comfy. Material is superb, construction is excellent. Dimensions perfect and meet most airline requirements. The only issue is the mesh material is double layered so it’s very hard to see what’s inside from the outside. In any case, both of my dogs love them and have been sleeping in it at night. If you have a smaller dog less than 8 lbs, I would recommend the smaller cousin Sleepypod Atom, which is also airline approved…it’s more compact and much easier to carry and multipurpose (i.e., can be for daily usage as opposed to just for airline). Given the quality and the design, definitely worth the price.

Great build quality, but cat didn’t like it too much.

Materials and build quality seems pretty good. I like the fact that you can fold it up for easy storage and fold up the sides to fit in tighter areas. Wish there was a bit more visibility and that there was a way to keep it upright with both sides opened because my cat doesn’t seem to like the fact that she can’t walk through it or see through it very well. I take her on car rides often and the restraint system seems pretty good and secure.

    Best airline carrier!

I’ve used this for several overseas trips with our cats. This carrier will fit under every seat as the sides can be folded in. Pockets to add travel essentials too. Extra helpful features include luggage opening for handle and top carry handle.I recommend NOT using the included lovely fluffy pad, (keep that for hotel or home) and purchase Stay-Dri Airline travel pet pads instead. They keep your pet dry even over a long flight or two with layovers! Without the carrier pad, you can double up the pads in the carrier for round trip needs.

NOT GREAT – AIRFLOW IS NOT GOOD/DOG CAN’T SEE MUCH ONCE INSIDE

Folds down nicely, bedding is easy to remove and wash, can be secured with a seat belt in a car easily- however, the airflow is not great and the way it zips apart does not allow for your dog to see anything once inside – there is not a hybrid state that is safe. The way it buckles into a car – your dog also will not be able to see much but the car door. our 8 lb dog also started panting

Sturdy, soft, and just the right amount of features

So far so good with this cat carrier, though haven’t really put it through much heavy use yet. It seems like it has good features for travel (seatbelt compatibility, airline compatibility) while being both soft and sturdy enough to enjoy use for regular transport. Cat doesn’t hate it, so good enough on that front.

Fit right under the seat on plane

I was really worried this carrier wouldn’t fit under the seat on my flight but it was perfect! Can also scrunch in the sides if needed but it fit well.

    If only it had wheels

My Havanese fits ok in this carrier, and it’s sturdy and well-made. But it’s heavier than most others this size, and with her inside it’s not easy to get through airports with it. If you have a dog you’re bringing onboard, that’s your carry-on bag, so once you check your luggage you cannot rely on hitching the carrier to a small carry-on suitcase on wheels and wheeling it that way. I’ve seen other carriers with detachable wheels, so the wheels can go in the overhead bin and you don’t have to carry the dog through the airport. I wish the Sleepypod had this option. One warning: if you open the front or top zipper just enough to put your hand in to pet your dog, which I felt was import for the sake of reassurance, the dog is able to use her head to pry the zipper farther open.

KNOW YOUR AIRLINE MEASUREMENT REQUIREMENTS BEFORE BUYING

My cat loves this carrier however I just found out that LATAM airlines won’t let this on board because it is considered too big. I was under the impression that sleepypod would be accepted by most airlines. Make sure to check before buying if you have an upcoming flight. Most airlines will accept this and I had no problem with Avianca or Alaska. It fit perfectly under the seat on my flights. Giving it 5 stars because this is great and it’s the airlines who are wrong.Pro Tip: Let your cat get used to the carrier first before your trip. My cat basically used it as her nap spot in my office.
