Ziwi Peak Air-Dried Dog Food is a safe raw food that is free of pulses while being grain-free.  Being pulse-free should prevent dilated cardiomyopathy, a potentially fatal heart disease associated with dog foods high in pulses (peas, chickpeas, lentils, etc.). I love that it is ethically sourced.

It is however very expensive.  For my 72# dog, they calculate $26 per DAY.  So practically speaking, this is a topper, not a food, for medium to large breed dogs not owned by millionaires.

From the manufacturer

HIGH PROTEIN, NUTRIENT DENSE: Authentic whole-prey ratios, featuring 96% wild-caught Mackerel and free-range Lamb, Organs, Bone, and New Zealand Green Mussels Safely air-dried ingredients that deliver peak nutrition and taste for the pickiest dogs

GRAIN-FREE, LOW CARB: Only 2 protein sources premium dog food without added carbohydrates, ideal for food-sensitive dogs

NO cheap fillers such as grain, potato, or peas. (Obviously grains are fine, but these diets don’t have them.  They don’t have pulses either).

10% SUPERFOOD BOOST: Cold-washed Green Tripe, New Zealand Green Mussels, and Organic Kelp; holistic ingredients to support digestion, healthy skin and coat, joint health, reduce inflammation, and promote heart and brain health

TOPPER or COMPLETE MEAL for ALL LIFE STAGES: Perfect as a topper for a nutrition and flavor boost, and ideal as a complete meal for peak nutrition and health; optimized from puppy to senior dogs, including small and large dog breeds

ETHICALLY SOURCED: ZIWI sources only 100% free-range, grass-fed, grass-finished meats, and wild-caught seafoods, all from New Zealand farms and pristine oceans. Farmed without added hormones, antibiotics, or growth promotants.

The ZIWI Difference: We believe holistic pet food starts with only the best natural ingredients. Rooted in New Zealand culture, our farmers and fisherman believe wholeheartedly in their role as kaitiaki; or being guardians of the land and sea. Ethical sourcing isn’t just a standard—it’s our way of life. Perfect for carnivores, our PeakPrey recipes are rich in meat and organs in authentic ratios, free from unnecessary carbohydrates. Proudly made by passionate Kiwis, nothing delights us more than crafting recipes that bring joy and peace of mind to pets and their guardians.

But it’s way too small. For $50 buy the 55 lbs but since the last 2 orders were not thrown around or not in powdery form, I am rating Ziwipeak tripe and lamb now with 5 stars even if my 7 yrs old female golden retriever is probably tired of it, but I know definitely better than any kibble. I can’t make raw food, even with a $400 meat grinder I bought. It’s only .5 hp but it’s high quality. Only used 3 times as I will stick with Ziwipeak tripe and lamb as they call it air dried or dehydrated and from New Zealand! And Amazon prime says I bought this 30 or more, times. Multiply 30 times $110 including tax, Hawaii tax, and the 2.2 lbs I think but less than half of the 5.5 lbs which I bought less than 10 of equals about $2750, just did a quick calculating on my head, adding the 2.2 lbs, around $48 including tax, Hawaii tax, means I bought around $3,250 of Ziwipeak, mostly tripe and lamb, as I like to change the protein sources but for some reason she doesn’t care for it. Venison maybe I should try that. But a prominent veterinarian said in an email long ago that chicken, venison are pro inflammatory in Chinese medicine so don’t give her chicken, raw or cooked. She’s a well known vet that started the canine blood bank, Hemolife, for those in need for transfusions. And she never do those 5, 6 in one vaccines as she calls them toxic tissue culture soup, because it’s definitely true. If one like distemper after doing a titer check for antibodies and it’s scores are low, that doesn’t mean to vaccinate, and if your vet really convinces you, then ask for a single dose, not what they carry. Do you think most Veterinarians have those by itself? 90 percent not so they’ll give a disclaimer with Adeno and parvo, 3 in one. It’s up to you, it’s your dog as our dogs doesn’t have a choice, right? But I like Ziwipeak because it’s not any kind of kibbles just that she’s tired of it. You eat the same thing every day, see how you like it?Kibbles no matter which brand has on average 40 to 50 plus percent carbs. Think about it!

The dogs love it, but it’s just too expensive as a dog food

We purchased it to try it out, because we wanted something healthy for the dogs with real meat. It is so hard to find dog food or dog treats without chicken and the chicken gives are three great Danes bad gas. It’s just too expensive to provide to them as a daily dog food, and they would really require a lot of water around to eat this as a meal. This is a great dog food and they do love it as a training treat, it just cost too much to feed it to them as their regular food, and even if we could afford to feed it to them all the time, our Male Great Dane is just too slobbery when they drink to feed them this as a meal, where he would have to drink way too much water, and would spread slobber far and wide. Lol.

    Worth it

I’ve got a very picky German Shepherd Dog. She’s 2 and a half years old now. Always been a fussy eater and I tried many foods including some expensive brands like Orijen, Honest Kitchen ,etc. Never bought the Ziwi because I thought the price was ridiculous. Meanwhile I’m dealing with chronically loose stool, large stool volume, refusal to eat like twice a week, smelly stools, and stressing over it all, switching foods all the time because she would seem to lose interest after a few weeks. So I went with the vet recommendation and switched to Ziwi. She’s been on it exclusively for the past 6 months and all problems have been solved. Stools are small and firm and don’t stink. She eats consistently. Also helps with her appitite that you feed a smaller volume of food according to the guidelines. Yes it’s expensive but worth the money to know that you’re not feeding junk to your dog. For me it’s literally the only food I’ve tried that didn’t end up being problematic. It really made a big difference for me and my dog, so all things considered it’s worth the extra money for the benefits.

We can all agree that our dogs are family to us and we all want to feed them the best because we like to eat top quality food as

I’ve been searching so long after researching dog food and watching documentaries on what these big chain dog food companies are putting into their products that are going into our dogs. We can all agree that our dogs are family to us and we all want to feed them the best because we like to eat top quality food as well. My fiancé and I rescued a Jack Russell and we first fed her Purina because it was advertised at our Veterinary office so we thought it was a legitimate product. She wasn’t so excited to eat it and within a month I notice there was mold growing inside the bag. I read the ingredients and I had no clue what most of them were. I started going online and researching homemade dog food since my fiancé loves to cook, I thought he could cook for her as well 😛. So we started cooking for her (grilled chicken and salmon) and she loved it. Then of course there was a day when we were running late to work and had to give her some regular dog food (Purina). Of course we bought a new bag and she had very watery stools after that. So I kept searching and finally came across Grandma Lucy’s and The Honest Kitchen freeze dried foods that when mixed with warm water had the consistency of oatmeal. I tried a sample of it and my dog (Isa) had a couple licks at it, but would not finish it. I knew right away it was the texture. She loves to chew of course which is why her favorite snack is cucumbers. So I kept looking again and came across Stella and Chewy’s and Ziwi Peak on YouTube from The Local Pet Market in Huntington Beach that reviewed the two. I leaned more towards Ziwi Peak because it’s air dried and I could leave it out since Isa likes to eat it throughout the day and Stella and Chewy’s raw freeze dried could not be left out for more than 2 hours. We are so happy with this product. The ingredients are simple, the smell is strong, but our Isa loves it! This will be her go to meal from now on!

HUGE improvements in dog’s stools, energy levels, and appetite.

WOW. This dry food is a complete game-changer. I was immediately drawn by the quality ingredients and although the food is very pricey, I think it is absolutely worth it when I consider my dog’s health in the long-run. Not only does my 3-year-old corgi gobble down her food (we have had issues with getting her to eat previously which may have been due to feeding her a lower-quality kibble) but I’ve also noticed a significant improvement in her stools. It’s been about a month since I’ve fed her this food, and her watery stools have lessened significantly. I’ve also noticed her energy levels going up and she seems much happier all-around. This premium dog food is absolutely worth the investment and I am so grateful to ZIWI as a company!

    Good product but….

The high cost is not as much the issue here is the packaging and subsequent handling during the shipping processes. The contents are tiny air dried jerky like squares. They are fragile and easily can crumble. Out of every bag I buy, there is enough unusable product to make this dog food mighty costly even to feed a very tiny dog such as mine is. But it is a very healthy choice for her, so I will continue to buy it. Just wish there was not any waste per expensive bag of it.

My dog was a stray for a few years before I adopted her and her eating habits are poor. She refuses all dry food except for this air dried food. It’s nice to finally have a winner and helps that she gets the nutrition she needs as well.

    Love but a bit pricey

I have a pitbull husky and he gets picky with food every now and then.I did find this product and he loves it. I use it as a topper. The only downside to this honestly is the price. It’s a bit too expensive so I keep an eye on the price and when the price is lower is when I buy it.

The smallest bag ever for the price. Wow

5 pounds is very small amount of food for over $100. I have a medium size dog that size would last less than two weeks. Seems great yet over my budget right now.

    My Furry Friend’s New Favorite

My feedback is really positive because this dog food is just amazing. I love the nutrient dense food, it’s great for my dog’s health. The wild-caught seafood and the high protein content really show in my dog’s energy levels. I’m happy to support a brand that’s ethical and sustainable. The best part is that it promotes heart and brain health in my pet. Since it’s dried, I use it for treats too and it’s not gross to keep in my pocket on walks. Highly recommend it!

Air-dried dog food is not easy to find. I am happy to find this brand on Amazon so that it can be delivered quickly as needed. I use it to change up the taste of my monthly home delivery of another brand of air-dried food because my pup gets bored with the same food.

    Good vs way too expensive

Can get same or similar 100% air-dried or freeze dried food locally for same exorbitant price or less. After I realized that my dog really did like this food, how surprised was I to find out that they much cheaper brand of Heritage Farms brand from H-E-B grocery was just as attractive to my dog. And……cheaper. Or, Stella + Chewy’s lamb dry dinner patties – also expensive but good.Initially, I was just relieved to find out that there was something else my puppy would eat, because, before, she had just quit eating and was losing weight. She didn’t prefer any other brand of food I could find. so, thank you, Ziwi Peak for that. However, continuing that price was unaffordable., period.Just open a plant in the US, New Zealand!

    Seems pretty scrumptious

Bought this quickly between my dogs normal dog food and because I wanted to see how he would do with lamb and mackerel. He has allergies to chicken and turkey, so I keep him on fish, but wanted to see how he would do with lamb. No issues. He gobbled up the food and is normally finicky so I’ll take that as a good sign. Seems to be good quality.Update: My dog does well will the lamb and venison. I’ve tried other brands of dog food with limited ingredient options or ones that were recommended and he didn’t do well. Either his stomach got upset or he wouldn’t eat it. He seems to do well on this, so I’ve decided to purchase it through Chewy with autoship (more cost effective) and alternate this and fresh food for his diet. He’s 11 years old and pretty active so I want him to have the best quality of life for his senior years. Hope this helps = )

This product is inhaled by our dog!

My husband is a veterinarian, and he stands behind this product, second only to raw food, which our dog won’t eat. Raw is best, but if your dog won’t eat it, ZIWI Peak is an exceptional choice! As quickly as I feed it, it disappears with our dog licking her chops. The only reason this doesn’t get an overall 5 star rating is this is a very expensive product. Our dog’s good health, and her willingness to consume tell us she’s worth it!

    Best company

I love Ziwipeak. The only problem is it’s expensive. I bought this bag and took a quarter cup out, and my 16 year old soulmate passed away. So now I have a full bag I’ve had it in the cabinet for 3 or 4 months and I cannot get a response from Ziwi peak since it’s been opened in the cabinet for 3 or 4 months if it’s still any good to use for another dog.I do love ziwi peak food that it is the best

    The Best Dog Food…. Ever!

My 4 year old Shorkie was having a really hard time with gnawing and scratching herself. It was painful to watch… I tried changing her food many times with no success. I met a woman who toldMe about this brand… I took her advice… since she had owned a dog care business for over 25yrs… I literally went home after meeting her and immediately order this dog food…. And I’m not kidding when I say that within 2 days her scratching and gnawing decreased… and within a week.. it all stopped and never came back!!!! And Todo absolutely loves loves loves this food! I just can’t say enough great things about this brand… yes… a little pricier than other food… but… listen I like good food forMyself in order to keep my own health in tip top shape… I want Todo to experience them same!!!

The best dry dog food you can get.

This is the best dry dog food you can get. It beats any kibble. Just read the ingredients: no fillers or grains, grass fed beef and lamb, and wild green mussels from New Zealand. And it’s air dried as oppossed to heated like kibble which means that the protein and ingredients are less denatured.

4 out of 6 paws like it. If you have a picky dog & tried everything .. try this!

Ok! I have 2 pure Yorkies , 2 shorkies , 1 Shih Tzu and a pit ( who’s 14 – senior doggy).4 will pick this over hard dog food every time !It comes in different flavors , I buy the beef and chicken . I do wish for loyal customers they offer a coupon or rewards thing .1 Small bag last me 2/3 days maybe so I still buy hard dog food for in between days . Hard dog food bag 6-10 bucks , this is 20 for small . Sooo coupons or rewards system for loyal customers would be awesome . That’s with any dog food or treats . When you have more then 2 dogs it’s costly ! I rescued 2 off the street. Anyway …It comes fresh , sometimes I don’t like when I open it and it lookes like 85% of the bag is what they got from the bottom of the barrel .They are small square pieces , I even brake them in half for my 2 smaller yorkies , I brake a tiny square in half and it don’t crumble a part so when I open the bag and it looks like dumbed blended Oreos in the bag … I question the quality . It looks like it was the last bit at the bottom of the barrel and they didn’t want to waste it .. money over quality … I feel like .That has not happen a lot ! I order 1 or 2 bags a week , if I don’t buy it in store . So it’s happen maybe 2 or 3 times in 8 months .Over all … I have tried 17 different kinds of hard dog food through out the last couple years and most of the time I have to buy 2 or 3 kinds. They are picky .One likes this , the other likes that , two don’t like nothing . It’s like picky kids !!!!!So when I got this and 4 out of 6 liked it …. WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER !!!!!!I like it’s air dry , they don’t like that dehydrated stuff. They eat 2 meals a day and I have a fresh plate of hard food in 2 rooms all day.

Pea-free, balanced meal bites u can use as “treats”

Our pup loves this, and I love the ingredients. We use it regularly as healthy little “good girl” treats. The pieces are just right for small dogs, refining, or puppies. My only complaints are the price for the bag size, and that after awhile the product crumbles to powder in the bottom of the bag. I’ve used the crumbles as a topper for her regular food, so there’s no waste. Wish the price would come down a bit, but this is a very healthy pea-free product.

The best and healthiest natural dog treat!

I am a professional dog behaviorist and I swear by these, I recommend all my clients buy these for two reasons. One, they are small and bite sized so they are easy to quickly dispense to dogs. And two, most important they are all natural and have no artificial ingredients, so dogs don’t get health issues or gain excess weight when training. They can be used as a food, but I LOVE them as treats!

    Our dog is a fan!

This was recommended to us by our vet, primarily because it uses natural ingredients. We use it as a topping for our dogs usual food (since it’s a bit pricey comparatively) and he loves it and will sometimes just eat the topping.

High Quality, But Needs Some Tweaks

This product is good because it has a high protein content, which is suitable for all life stages of dogs. I also appreciate the use of wild-caught seafoods. However, the product could use a wider variety of flavors. More allergen information would also be helpful. My Mal-Shi loved this food but she was allergic to something in it. Her eyes watered a lot since I started feeding her this, and the condition improved when I changed her food. I wished I could’ve kept her on it!

Great to use for training, but…

I’ve been using Ziwi Peak off and on for the last two years. At first, I thought I’d use it as my primary dry food, but with two dogs (a Sheltie and a standard sized Aussie), the cost is prohibitive. My dogs love it, though, so I compromise and use it for training. Unfortunately, there’s so much that gets crumbled into really small pieces and decimated into dust in the bottom of the bag, that I’ve spent a *lot* of time picking out the whole pieces from the mess in the bottom third of the bag. If you’re using this for training, you have to do this or your bait bag will be nothing but crumbs and dust, and your fingernails and hands will be covered in it (I. HATE. THAT.) The upside to this, for me, anyway, is that I use that wastage as a sprinkle topping for my dog’s Kongs and lickimats, and sometimes for their dinners, so none of it goes to waste. The downside, though, is that there’s not enough whole pieces in a bag to justify the $20+ price tag for training rewards. I estimate that I consistently can only use about 1/3 of a bag for training. You can dehydrate a lot of chicken for the same price, and without a whole lot of convenience coming with that price tag, what’s the point if you then have to spend another hour + of your time sorting kibble from dust?Having pointed all of that out, my dogs do seem to really enjoy this food, so I’m at the point that every once in a while, I break down, buy a bag, and then spend an hour sorting it. I wish they’d make this in a more stable form for training treats (I suspect shipping causes a lot of friction in the bags of food in-transit, which then causes the breakdown?), or even find a way to make the product more economical, because I’d use it as our primary dry food.Overall, it’s a quality product, and judging by my dog’s affinity for it, they love the taste and would like more. They find it very palatable, and as a primary food source, you can feed less Ziwi Peak than you do traditional kibble as it’s (supposedly) a more efficient food. My picky eater prefers this over other options when I have some in my treat pouch, so I try and hold that back for her. While I won’t be keeping this on-hand as a staple item for my dogs, I will continue to purchase more (but only when I run out of dust for enrichment items!)

I’ve been using this food for a while now and my dog couldn’t be happier. The lack of cheap fillers and inclusion of wild-caught seafoods really make a difference. Titan Loves his ZiwiPeak Venison!

This stuff is so worth it, and when you do the math, it’s actually a bargain. More on that later….Some background: My dog is an 80 pound American Pit Bull Terrier. He is the love of my life (ok, he’s a tie with my husband). He has horrible allergies, both environmental and food. Because of this, his doggie dermatologist (yep, there’s dermatologists out there just for animals!) has him on an elimination diet of just venison. Being that I completely spoil my dog I’ve been looking for high quality venison treats to feed him when I stumbled upon the ZiwiPeak venison on Amazon. I’d not heard of ZiwiPeak, but when I looked at how few ingredients were in there and did a little research, I decided it sounded about as close to bambi in a bag as I could get (sorry, I know that’s a sad visual…). So, I ordered a few bags of the ZiwiPeak Venison treats. Titan went mad for them. It was as if I was sprinkling him with magical venison fairy dust and he would do anything so long as I would continue to shower him with those heavenly venison squares. You see, it’s raw air dried venison, and it comes in these little compact squares about the size of a dime of venison jerky. But it’s still soft, almost velvety, as it is still raw.Titan suffers from a tiny case of separation anxiety, so recently when I had to leave him alone for a while and I was fresh out of bambi bones, I put a handful on top of his food and tip toed towards the door. He barely lifted his head from the bowl. For insurance, I threw a half empty bag of the ZiwiPeak Venison treats on the floor just as I slipped out the door…he noticed the bag, but kept eating from his bowl, pushing it around and digging through the kibble with his nose to sniff out the ZiwiPeak squares as if a pig searching for truffles in the south of France. When I returned a couple of hours later, I searched the house for evidence that he wasn’t pleased with my departure. Apart from the garbage being knocked over (my fault for leaving it full, bad mom!) the place was fine.Later when I went to put down his dinner, Titan sat at the entrance of the kitchen and stared at the cabinet where the venison treats were kept. When I told him to go and eat, he stayed put, staring at the cabinet. I added a little canned venison to entice him. No go. Finally I poured a little bit of the ZiwiPeak Venison on top and he ran to his bowl and started eating. Now, he will not go near the bowl unless there is a hefty portion of ZP in there. Figuring I could save some money, I moved up from the treats to the 2.2 pound bag. Once I went through that in a week, I moved on to the 11 pound bag. I haven’t made the complete transition to just ZP in his bowl, as I’m still mixing it in with his old stuff, but it’s just a matter of time. The vet has had Titan on one of those vet prescribed diets, which, when I looked at the ingredients on that bag, not only could I not pronounce most of them, but the list was HUGE and the first ingredient was POTATO!But back to my point: I’ve bought venison treats for Titan that were anywhere from $10 for 5 or 6 ounces, (which translates to $30 per pound) to $44 per pound for venison jerky (and I paid it!!). So, at $9 a pound, the ZiwiPeak Venison is actually a bargain. And, it is high quality. Not to mention, you know how sometimes your dog eats a bowl of food and then throws up and the vomit looks like a mixture of spongy kibble and foam? Titan’s never had that with this stuff. I think it’s because the ZP is so close to the natural thing that there isn’t anything in there to cause it to expand which then causes him to throw up.So yes, overall, I’m very happy with the product line. I think it’s a pretty cool thing that I can use his food as treats and he still goes mad for it (much like a toddler with cheerios!). I’ll be experimenting with some of the other varieties once I’m allowed to introduce other foods per the doggie dermatologist; and I will be trying out the ZP canned as well.

    Dog loves it

My GSD loves this food. I’ve been using 25% with his other food. He actually picks it out and leaves his other food in the bowl. The smell is terrible, but I guess it’s because it’s air dried. I’m very pleased to find a healthier food with such good ratings (believe me I did my research). It is EXTREMELY expensive though. I just purchased a bigger bag, which is a better value once you know if your dog likes it.

    Good but pricey

Seems to be an excellent quality dog food,my dog certainly loved it!Downside is the incredibly high price!,by my math to feed this to my dog in place of kibble would cost around $500 a month! Thanks to bidenomics I certainly can’t afford that!

Must be too healthy I have to trick my dog into eating it

I have made the mistake of feeding too much people food to my dog so she is very spoiled. I have to mix this in with what she will eat, but, it is about the only dog food I can get her to eat. Wish it wasn’t so expensive.

    Great Raw Diet Food

I wholeheartedly believe a raw diet is the best diet for dogs but found that it was very time consuming to prepare my dogs food myself and I constantly feared I was missing vital nutrients, vitamins or minerals. I purchased this food for convenience for the pet sitter when I went on vacation. My dogs loved it! I have now consistently been feeding it for several years now and my dogs are happy and at peak health.I find it best to figure out the calories your dog needs, they have an easy calculator, and weigh the food out rather than using a measuring cup. For my 70 pound, lazy dog, she gets 3.8 ounces of the chicken flavor in the morning and 4.2 ounces of the mackerel and lamb at night to meet her calorie needs. Weighing the food is best due to the way the food is made, you can have inconsistent sizes of food which will fill the cup differently. Some complain that this food is overpriced. Once you calculate your dog’s caloric needs, this food becomes more cost effective, especially compared to other high quality, pre-prepared, raw diet foods. It is also more convenient. Some complain that there are crumbles and powder in their bags. It is important to remember that this is an all natural food meaning there are no fillers such as starches. Starches are what make other foods firm and crunchy. So yes, you can expect some crumbles, sometimes more than others depending on the handling of the bags. However, the crumbles and powder are not wasted!! They are still high nutrient food. Don’t throw them away. My dogs happily licks them up from the bowl. This is another reason it’s best to weigh the food.My somewhat complaint. I’m not going to lie, the food kind of stinks, but it’s a raw diet so that is to be expected it’s just one of the downfalls. The chicken flavor isn’t bad, but the mackerel & lamb? Well, it’s fish and lamb so it shouldn’t be surprising. What is surprising, is that it doesn’t linger on my dogs breath. My complaint. They recently changed their packaging and I am not a fan. The bags used to have strong handles at the tops of the bags, they sealed back up easily and they had a perfect size scoop in them. Now there are no handles, no scoop, and sometimes I have to work the ziplock type seal.Hands down, will continue to feed and recommend this food!

I mix and match by using this as a topper or a freeze dried product by another brand (I won’t mention here) during the morning. Their evening meals I’ll have enough time to do dry food and wet food. Just to mix up the flavors/meals for my 3 huskies. This product anre fresh, smell fishy, but the smell is contained very well inside it’s resealable bag and the best part, they don’t leave behind oils on your hands. All 3 huskies approve! I only put about 4-5 pieces over their food and I know the bag will last them at least 2 weeks or so. I’ll be a regular customer and plan to set up a subscription. I’m actually blown away by the quality and can’t wait to see their other options.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the product AND the company behind it!

I wrote a REALLY long review regarding a different brand freeze dried dog food and now I’m wishing I hadn’t because it probably makes this product seem not as good in comparison and nothing could be further from the truth! When I originally read all of the reviews about this product I was a bit skeptical but VERY hopeful (despite the cost)since so many reviewers said that this was the one food that their totally-picky dog would actually eat. When I first tried giving her a nibble while out on a walk she turned her nose up at it like she does with all new things. I slowly started giving her some, mixed in with a clump of almond butter and her kibble. Eventually I got her to eat it and was happy to have something else to feed her along with the kibble and the other raw products I feed.(I know that raw is not supposed to be mixed with kibble, but in this case I am just trying to get her to eat anything) Anyway, I continued to do this until one day she just didn’t seem to want it. Finally it dawned on me that she probably JUST wanted this and nothing else and much to my surprise I was right! She likes it so much that she will eat it without the almond butter, which is a HUGE relief to me for it’s literally the FIRST and only food I’ve been able to skip the almondt butter with since she first stopped eating. She will get sick of it after a few days so of course I alternate what I feed her; before she had stopped eating completely I had her on a rotation diet which I believe is better for them anyway. The only downside, of course, is the cost, especially if you have a bigger dog like I do.It’s understandable, however, since the food is imported and air dried which I imagine takes longer. I love being able to feed my dog a raw diet without the GI upset she gets with fresh raw. I finally noticed that her feces is MUCH smaller when she is on a raw-only diet, and for a dog of 60+ lbs hers weren’t that big to begin with. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, I can’t say how AWESOME the ZiwiPeak company is! When I first noticed and wanted to try this product I emailed them asking if I could purchase a sample anywhere. Within days I received a package of the venison product in the mail. (Their “trial size” is a good size bag!) It wasn’t until after the fact that I saw that you CAN purchase that size through Amazon, and it retails for $8-$10!Even MORE impressive to me was a few months later when I wanted to try the lamb variety. I wasn’t able to find a similar trial size package of the lamb anywhere online, so I emailed them again and asked if the lamb variety was avaialble for purchase in anything smaller than the 2.2 lb bag.Once again within a few days I receive a package in the mail from them, and this time it included a large zip-lock baggie filled with the lamb variety and a scoop. Apparently they don’t make the small trial bags of the lamb but that didn’t stop them from sending me some! (which so far my dog seems to like!)To put this into perspective, I have emailed other raw manufacturers asking where I can purchase sample products from, including the other company I reviewed, and many of them never even answered me much less sent me anything! It definitely feels good to be feeding my dog something that I know she actually likes, plus feeding the benefits of a natural raw diet, PLUS a product that uses a drying process that hopefully preserves some of the natural enzymes of raw food. Can’t say enough good things about this food – if it was the ONLY food I fed my dog it wouldn’t be nearly as expensive to feed her but unfortunately because of her pickiness this isn’t the case.

Great quality food but arrived stale

I typically use this for training as my dog thinks it’s a treat but it’s much healthier for them! Great ingredients and my dogs both LOVE it. I will be purchasing again, but from a pet store instead to ensure it’s fresh. This bag unfortunately came stale.

Expensive, but well worth it and Ziwi Peak’s Customer Service is among the best out there.

I saw Ziwi Peak a few years ago at a local Pet Store, but avoided buying it due to the cost at the time which was much lower than it is now, in retrospect I didn’t buy it because I wasn’t really educated on the proper diet for Dogs, which is a common problem in this day and age, but with the Internet people are becoming more educated.Initially when my Dog was a puppy and into a few years of age, we stuck with Purina Puppy Chow and then tried several Pet Store brands some not so good and what’s advertised on TV, big brand names and some obscure brands sold only online, all of which contained grains, carbs and veggies among a mix of meat proteins and God knows what else.A number of years ago after my Dog had some health issues for bladder infections, the Vet prescribed a food just for that reason, very expensive and after further education I saw the #1 ingredient was Corn, after feeding my Dog this for a month or so, I stopped. I took it upon myself to feed higher quality pet foods and the issue went away and never returned. I also got a new Vet. Dogs are carnivores based on their non-domesticated ancestors, sure they can eat some of it, but having it as their main diet or a high %, is not what nature intended for them.Over the years since, I tried several higher quality brands in an effort to curb some paw licking and chewing that a became frequent, Vet said there was a yeast infection and mentioned it could be food. I went to Grain Free, I tried many different brands, Wellness, Taste of the Wild, Nutrisca, Orijen, Acana and Fromm to name a few. I actually lost count of all the foods I tried, I removed Chicken from the diet thinking there was a Chicken Allergy, helped a little but paw licking and nibbling continued. Also my Dog had a yeast issues as I could still smell it very faintly. There were times when the food totally was a loss of interest and would not be finished at dinner time. I then switched to a grain free all fish diet, for a while, tried a couple other brands, Zignature being the last, but I had to stop due to the % Sodium.I then received word from the Vet that my Dog has early stages of congestive heart failure, which requires daily meds now to manage. I also, on my own, began to research and also blamed myself for the diet I was feeding. I read that diets low in Taurine and also diets that are Lamb & Rice based can cause deficiencies in Taurine. Along with this, it’s imperative that dog’s with CHF be given a low sodium diet, most dog foods on the market are loaded with crap on top of Salt, like why is it needed? Some sodium perhaps, but high % of it or just plain old “Salt” listed in the ingredients, is too much.So after blaming myself for the condition my Dog had, I went on a search to find a low sodium food that met my requirements, I tried a few, but most were still too high in Sodium % or did not even list it, after reaching out to them via e-mail I found out most were too high. I then found Ziwi Peak, and their website is very clear, shows the sodium and also added Taurine benefit which my Dog needs, I ordered a small bag and fed it mixed in for a week, noticed how my Dog devoured it and left the old kibble for last or didn’t even want to finish it. This led to another bag and another, eventually I had switched over to Ziwi Peak 100%.It’s been over a month now, my Dog looks forward to feeding time, devours the food and leaves nothing behind. Stool volume is way down, no more fillers or things that are only detrimental, just like nature intended. Also noticed a huge improvement in the breath department, along with no issues with poop time or loose stools.Skin is improving, nibbling and paw chewing is declining. All the noted benefits of the food is coming into fruition and I hope it continues. My Dog loves Ziwi Peak and also the Ziwi Peak treats. The cost is high, but when you weigh out the positives and vet visits you may avoid due to feeding it along with having a happy healthy Dog, it’s a small price to pay. Also as noted by Ziwi Peak, the portion sizes are smaller than what’s typical of foods containing loads of fillers and carbs, and believe it or not the recommended daily feeding size quite adequately satisfies my Dog’s hunger and also the included measuring cup in each bag is a nice touch.I also have to commend Ziwi Peak’s Customer Service, I received one bag that had a different smell than what I was use to, was concerned though there was nothing probably wrong with it, appears a tear or wasn’t properly sealed. After contacting Ziwi Peak via e-mail, I got a response in a less than 1 hour from the Co-Founder of the company, who offered to send a replacement bag, when it arrived not only did they replace the bag, but they also included a free bag of Ziwi Peak Venison Treats which made my Dog very happy. So I would rate their Customer Service #1, which matches the quality of the food as well.

    Pups’ Favorite!

We use these as treats, as recommended by our pet health coach. I love how natural they are with simple ingredients, and my pups go crazy for the flavor! Neither of my dogs have had any problem digesting these at all, though they don’t have very sensitive stomachs generally.

Man my dog loves this stuff!

so it is a bit pricey, i get that, but what i do is just sprinkle a single layer on the bottom of her bowl, and then add her regular dog food on top of it, she devours it like crazy. It lasts longer than you’d think.Admittedly the mackeral and lamb ones, smell, like, um, well mackeral, so it is a bit fishy, but weirdly it doesn’t make her breath fishy, just is a bit potent when ya first crack open the bag.good stuff though, not too bad on the price if you subscribe

Expensive yet the only kibble my dog will eat

I seem to be always buying this dog food, should really go onto subscription. I tried a lot of different kibble, I guess some people use these as treats, I use it in the morning as Bodhi’s breakfast. It’s ease of use is great, he has a great ball I can load it up in, then he gets to have play time will eating. I try to give him a wet food at night, (been through a lot of different choices there too) but sometimes he won’t eat it and he brings his ball to me for more of this Ziwi dry kibble. So we tend to go through a lot of it. Also if I take it to the park as a treat for recall he will come running, and will happily eat it! He is a picky treat eater also and doesn’t always take a treat. So alls to say, big fans of this kibble. Also I love it/ from NZ where I’m also from.

Highly Nutritious, My Dog Loves It!

My feedback is really positive because of its high protein content. This dog food even includes superfoods, which is a huge bonus.
